Your Opportunity

This is a Technical Director - Project Management position to lead a major new Program within Application Modernization. The specific Program is Application Migration Execution. This is a 3-4 year initiative to plan all of our Application migrations (over 700 applications) to Schwab’s new data center near the campus in Westlake, TX.

This is an incredibly complex and detailed planning and execution program. The individual will lead taking the strategy built by our Architecture team and implementing it across all STS areas and 700+ applications. This will involve working extensively with technology leaders at the Director, VP, and occasionally the SVP levels. It is a high visibility role, and will have occasional interaction with the CIO and CTO.

What you’re good at

A strong background in technology is required – understanding the key characteristics of applications and their infrastructure will be at the core of the job. This individual will be meticulous and detail oriented and will indirectly lead a team of project managers and analysts. They will partner with a consultant who will help Schwab with the framework to implement an approach. The right individual has a strong technology background including Project Oversight, Release Management, and Building and Deploying Software. This is a high priority need as this effort is already under way.

What you have

• Strong experience in managing large project efforts required. Ability to quickly implement structure and organization for execution and delivery.
• Passion to command the technology details, strong interest and background in applications and environments required. Ability to discuss planning, execution, and issues with architects and technical leaders.
• Proven capability in orchestrating and planning a large number of technical dependencies spanning multiple technical domains required.
• Strong and demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills required.
• Demonstrated leadership through influence and inspiration required.
• Excellent communications and relationship skills required.
• Meticulous and detail oriented approach required.
• Experience working across Schwab’s technology systems highly desired, ideally in multiple areas.
• Computer Science or technical degree preferred.
