Description

We are looking for an exceptional data visualization engineer to join Pearson’s AI Products and Solutions team and help shape the future of Artificial Intelligence in education. Our mission is to enable the development of AI-first, outcome-driven products to improve learning experiences. The position provides the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research on a cross-functional team of world-class researchers and engineers and contribute to developing products that have an impact on millions of learners around the globe.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Combine your skills as a full-stack web developer and a visual communicator to push the limits of advanced data visualization techniques.
  • Conceive and create innovative, interactive visual tools for data scientists, supporting the rapid and iterative development of AI models and algorithms.
  • Design and develop novel views of data and software capabilities for executives, directly influencing high-level strategy for the wider organization.
  • Invent and implement custom data visualizations for product managers, giving them the insights they need to make sound, data-driven decisions throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

We are looking for a data visualization engineer with:

  • 3 years experience as a software engineer with solid skills in a general purpose object-oriented language and a scripting language.
  • Proficiency with multiple tools for both static and interactive visualization, including but not limited to D3.js/D3.py, Raphael.js, Paper.js, Processing/Processing.js, Sigma.js, Tableau, Plotly/Dash, Matplotlib, Bokeh, Gephi
  • Full-stack web development skills, including frontend (HTML, JQuery, ReactJs), server-side programming (esp. Python, NodeJs) and database technologies / data extraction techniques (Pandas, SQL, GraphQL, RESTful APIs).
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Math or Statistics, or related area (or equivalent experience).
  • Both theoretical and practical understanding of the principles of visual display of information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across the company.
  • A knack for creative, collaborative problem solving and a willingness to learn new technologies and skills.
  • Familiarity with the fundamentals of machine learning and its applications a plus.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform Storage and/or AWS S3 a plus.
