The Public Service Sector consulting practice is a trusted advisor to federal, state and local governments, partnering to meet challenges and responding quickly to citizen demands, business needs, new economic conditions, and changing legislative priorities and policies.
Your Role and Responsibilities The Systems Administrator (Senior) is primarily responsible for the overall health and welfare of Windows and Linux platform infrastructure including SAN data storage. Job duties include setup, configuration, maintenance, operation, troubleshooting and repair of Windows and Linux server infrastructure. The hands-on nature of the position requires applicant to live within reasonable driving distance to the data center and be onsite M-F during normal business hours. Server Ops scope includes:
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, manage and upgrade Windows and Linux based servers (physical and virtual) and appliances hosted in ITG Data Center. This includes the hardware and operating system layer and coordination with project teams to keep application software levels and security patches current
- Operate, maintain and manage hypervisor images of Windows and Linux platform virtual machines
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational problems to minimize service interruptions. May require coordination with 3rd party vendors and support personnel
- Test, validate, and deploy all required hardware and software security patches and updates
- Support new hosting requests by utilizing available server hardware, ordering software, licenses or hardware components required to build servers and meet data center customer requirements
Required Technical and Professional Expertise - Active participation in all phases of a 24x7 data center environment including: server builds, hardening, patching, monitoring, troubleshooting, responding to trouble tickets and working with customers/teammates/vendors
- Minimum 3 years experience as system administrator in a data center operational environment
- Experience in the technical evaluation, analysis and troubleshooting of server software and hardware
- Experience in building, patching and security hardening servers
- Experience in multiple technologies, or the ability to gain knowledge of additional operating systems-like Linux, Windows Server and/or scripting language
- Experience with implementation and configuration of MS Active Directory preferred
- Experience with SAN storage devices preferred
- Experience with system administration in a virtualized environment
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise - Professional Certification (RHCSA,MCSE) preferred
