Job Description

McD Tech Labs is the recently established Silicon Valley based technology development group within McDonald’s Corporation. The mission of McD Tech Labs is to deliver advanced technology solutions that address real-world, data-driven needs in the McDonald’s Restaurant environment. McD Tech Labs is focused on using state-of-the-art Machine Learning, AI, and related technologies along with McDonald’s unparalleled scale to completely transform the customer experience.

We are currently looking for talented data engineers to develop and accelerate Kafka pipelines; Hibernate SQL databases, and S3 storage of Petabyte scale ChatLogs from our AI Drive Through solution.

The data engineer will support a fast-developing and heterogeneous collection of QA analysis goals, AI Model evaluation, bulk model parameter search training, business process support, and report visualization.

• Develop and maintain the core petabyte scale ChatLogs storage system; as a hybrid of AWS S3 and Java Hibernate
• Develop and maintain Kafka pipeline flows as logs are uploaded from AI Drive Through locations
• Develop and maintain AI research pipelines, training and evaluation pipelines, audio re-encoding and scanning pipelines, and various analysis outputs for business users
• Work with the Frontend Engineers to co-develop GraphQL and REST endpoint APIs to support a collection of web UX and tooling consumers of the ChatLogs data
• Work with AI Speech and Audio engineers to support and co-develop heterogeneous pipelines over large flows of ChatLogs data to support and accelerate experimentation with new AI models and improvements

• BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field, or equivalent experience
• Quick learner and able to contribute to the team quickly
• 5+ Years Linux Experience
• 5+ Years Professional Java / Python Experience
• 2+ Years PubSub Experience (Kafka, SQS, ApacheMQ, etc)
• 3+ Years Cluster Computing Experience
• S3 Experience
• SQL Experience
