Embedded Engineer Intern, Facebook Reality Labs

Internship - Engineering, Tech & Design | Pittsburgh, PA

Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) brings together a world-class, cross-discipline R&D team with the shared goal of developing the next generation of AR and VR technologies for telepresence. Join us on the adventure of a lifetime as we make science fiction real and change the world. We're looking for someone who will develop lossless image/video compression algorithm for future HMD and high speed camera capture system for building avatar animation. A successful candidate will have good understanding of the image/video compression, FPGA optimization, and computer architecture. The candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
  • Design and experiment algorithms with python or C++
  • Implement and optimize FPGA design using HDL/HLS tools
  • Analyze throughput and compression performance
  • Work out demo with image sensor and high speed camera
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
  • Experience in efficient image processing
  • Experience with FPGA acceleration
  • Experience with Python or C++
Preferred Qualifications
  • Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op
  • Experience with MIPI, USB, PCIE or Ethernet
