Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Vault opening / closing, and ensuring that access to vault is register and duly signed by designated staff.
  • Ensuring that the exchange rate board is updated first thing in the morning on a regular basis.
  • Checking and balancing tellers cash GL, accounts/ sundry accounts/ AR accounts.
  • Ensuring that all cash in excess of the approved branch overnight limits are properly reported / cash arrange for head office branch or central bank deposit.
  • Ensure that area is adequately stocked with deposit slips, deposit envelopes etc...
  • Prompt and efficient action on all queries pertaining to the area .
  • Ensuring that suspense dropped entry’s are investigated and rectified immediately.
  • Obtaining approvals from RM’s for overdraft / status, and ensuring that the same is supported by appropriate approvals either through MAIL message or a physical sign off by the respective RM.
  • Overriding teller transactions after proper checks have been conducted.
  • Ensuring that all teller transactions are checked and mistakes rectified if any.
  • Closing teller cash at the end of day .
  • Ensuring that cash area kept clean of any customer’s information before leaving the banks premises.
  • Ensuring that all related customers’ transactions are scanned and filed in appropriate files
  • Maintaining file and monitoring daily attendance / MIS / Branch closing cash position.
  • Ensure that tellers are advised and updated on COB requirements and action plan.
  • Ensure that tellers are updated on and process changes and policy modifications.
  • Adequately plan teller’s annual vacation and day offs, ensuring that necessary replacements are arrange for if required.
  • Ensure that all system related issued are promptly reported and rectified.
  • Ensure that all procedures, controls and policies are strictly adhered to.
  • Conducting quarterly self-assessments.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience

This job description provides a high-level review of the types of work performed. Other job-related duties may be assigned as required.

Skills:

  • Strong customer service orientation and quality assurance. Tactfully handling teller errors and communication the same to the cash officer. Conduction informal meeting, where in tellers are given a chance to voice their opinion and giving feedback on performance and explanations. Ongoing coaching & support through identifying weaknesses & improving strengths
