The Competitive and Market Insights (CMI) team is responsible for analyzing market trends, understanding key competitors in each market, and assessing the impact to SAP’s overall strategic direction and execution. CMI insights and recommendations are a direct input to strategic planning at the SAP executive level and across the organization. The CMI Americas Analyst will report to the Vice President for Global Field Insights and will support a variety of activities.

The CMI Field Insights Analyst for the Americas ensures that SAP is aware of market trends and competitive activity affecting these regions. The analyst builds this knowledge base by analyzing the competitive environment faced by SAP teams and future trends and makes recommendations based on findings. Sales experience (preferably at SAP) is essential in understanding and supporting core constituencies in this role.

Core tasks include:

  • Market & Industry Analysis – Support analysis requests from GCO leaders in the Americas, operations, CMI, corporate strategy, SAP marketing, and the broader SAP community on the IT market and competitive challenges in the Americas – looking at key industry segments and lines of business. This analysis may include competitor analysis, market segmentation, market sizing, IT trends, or macroeconomic insights.
  • Research & Analysis Special Projects – provide support for ad hoc research requests from board level executives and the broader SAP community. This support may include collecting and synthesizing external analyst research and preparing research reports for stakeholders.
  • CMI research – support the broader SAP business as well as internal CMI constituents with research deliverables that inform a broad audience and / or projects to operationalize processes within the team. These activities will include but are not limited to helping design templates for new deliverables and building and supporting internal social communities to expedite crowd sourcing of field insights.
  • Enablement – Serve as the lead or co-lead with other CMI colleagues of recurring sessions across constituencies to raise awareness within GCO of CMI resources, support, points of contact as well as competitor behaviors and ways to in inside the North America and Latin America/Caribbean market units

  • Manages projects, defines deliverables and provides definitive advice and interpretation of situations
  • Ensures business critical & innovative results
  • Ensures that goals and milestones are met and approved budgets are managed appropriately
  • Manages escalation appropriately
  • Tracks single project budget line
  • Builds strategic partnerships with key decision makers in customer & partner organization Represents SAP to customers' - is responsible for delivery of quality outcomes of projects of high volume or high risk

  • Manages expertise ensuring business critical & innovative results
  • Eagerness to learn new skills; actively engage to build new knowledge bases
  • Responsible for delivery of outcomes of complex and innovative functional issues integrating client needs, strategic business goal of the function and financial objectives
  • Involved in directing the implementation and execution of functional business plans integrating functional and financial objectives
  • Can make functional decisions and recommendations of a broad nature
  • Represents the company externally on specific subject matters

Complexity:

  • Manages projects of high volume or high risk/complexity
  • Provides regular project status and updates
  • Shares in-depth knowledge and experience with direct team to enable decision-making and provide innovative solutions to complex business issues
  • Works on complex technical projects or business issues requiring strong technical knowledge.
  • knowledge of all areas within particular corporate sub-function or a function within division.

Experience & Language Requirements

  • 7+ years of business work experience ideally in enterprise software, strategy, business development, finance, or consulting.
  • Experience in a sales or sales support role (e.g. presales, customer engagement, industry value advisory, etc.) highly preferred.

Education

  • MBA or advanced degree in related discipline preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering or Computer Science required
