Job Description

Mixmax is the hub for all your business communications. We integrate with your company's existing toolchain - email, calendar, chat, CRM, and more - to bring all information into one place. This means we're syncing, storing, & indexing hundreds of millions of events a day into our system, and then building blazing fast APIs and rich integrations to delight users. Additionally, we have an extensive Developer API that powers entire third party products.

We're looking to hire our first Security Engineer to lay the foundation for all aspects of Mixmax’s application security/platform security from end to end. You’ll be a key communicator, working both cross-functionally in our San Francisco office and across our distributed organization.

As a Security Engineer, you will Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug databases, applications, tools, networks, etc.

As a member of the Platform Guild, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard security practices and procedures. You’ll help start a team specifically focused on ensuring the company runs using forward-focused security mythology and practices. This means being a member of a team that values continuous and collective learning, culture over process, data-driven development and always asking tons of questions. We actively blog about our work, contribute to open source, sponsor Open Collectives, and host/present at meetups - we actively encourage you to do the same and under your own name.

Responsibilities

You will immerse yourself in all aspects of security. You are looking for an opportunity that will try your technical skills and challenge your creativity. You are ready to face a wide range of security questions, many of which have not been considered before.

Production servers, networks, endpoint devices, and data are safe in your hands. You are a subject matter expert who wants to implement tactical solutions and contribute to the bigger picture.

What You’ll Do

• You’ll be tasked with improving security across all aspects of the Mixmax Platform Guild.
• Provide subject matter expertise on application architecture and security
• Perform security assessments of production, corporate, and cloud infrastructure both internally and externally for clients
• Harden our application and network against attacks
• Instrument systems and dashboards to enable detection of intrusions
• Create services and tools to manage the security of our network
• Support all aspects of our infrastructure security needs for the Mixmax Platform Guild

What You’ll Need

• Push the boundaries of security technology to create defenses for large scale production infrastructure and applications
• Expertise in information security
• Solid foundational knowledge of technologies and security policies
• Programming skills in languages such as Python, JS, Go
• Involved with common network security industry practices, forums, and institutions
