Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Robotics and Intelligent Process Automation Developer to join our team. This is a full time, permanent role in our Belfast Office.

The Robotics and Intelligent Process Automation Developer forms a key part of Pearson’s Automation Centre of Expertise. This role will focused on delivering productivity to Pearson through the innovative use of process automation technologies such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and other forms of process automation e.g. excel VBA, OCR, AI, chatbots. This is an excellent opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies.

We now welcome applications to join an exciting, successful and growing team focused on continuing to build out Intelligent Automation capabilities within Pearson. The key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Working alongside senior business leaders to discover and design automation opportunities that will deliver productivity within Pearson
  • Configure high quality and efficient Robotic Process Automation (RPA) software to meet business automation requirements in accordance with governance best practices.
  • Be a key member of a fast-paced Agile development team focused on delivering real business value
  • Investigate and prototype with new and innovative technologies within Pearson.
  • Liaising with experienced users to clarify requirements and functional specifications.
  • Drive and own automation configurations through test cycles, change management, and production readiness.
  • Detailed documentation of solution designs and process definitions.
  • Manage automated processes on a daily basis to ensure they are scheduled and managed in line with Business Requirements and that exceptions, referrals and system outages are handled appropriately.
  • Develop a knowledge library of business rules and re-useable assets, automated processes and objects, automation competencies and best practices to uphold the program standards.
  • Communicating with automation vendors on software related issues and suggested improvements.
  • The opportunity to undertake professional training and certifications
  • Providing technical assistance and training to others.
  • Other Ad hoc duties as required.

Qualifications

Essential Skills /Experience:

  • Good development skills in RPA or Test Automation or other common languages (e.g. C#, Microsoft Excel VBA, Java, .NET, or similar).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience (if statements, nested statements, vlookups, pivot tables etc).
  • Experience of Agile Development Methodologies and ways of working (Scrum, Kanban etc.)
  • Experience of working independently and as part of a global team on projects with professionals at all levels
  • Demonstrable track record of problem-solving.
  • Able to articulate and simplify complex technical solutions to stakeholders

Desirable Skills /Experience:

  • Knowledge Robotic Process Automation tools such as BluePrism, UiPath, Automation Anywhere, etc. Training will be provided if no knowledge of these tool exists.
  • Knowledge of Finance or Accounting function as this role will involve the development of intelligent automation solutions for accounting and finance professionals.
  • Experience of identifying waste and then using Lean principles to solve problems.
  • Experience of AWS
  • Experience in a Software delivery team with hands on experience of delivering solutions throughout the delivery life cycle as well as maintenance of production processes/systems
