Job Responsibilities

As a Data Science Intern in Micron’s Human Resources (HR) department, you will work with a best-in-class team of data scientists to discover results and insights that drive Micron’s workforce strategy. Your work will directly impact HR strategies, ensuring we continue to attract, develop, and retain the most talented people in the industry. In this role, you will:

• Apply your expertise in machine learning, deep learning, statistics, or psychometrics, to help Micron understand how to best attract, develop, reward, and retain the best talent.
• Work alongside our top tier data scientists and HR system team members to access existing data in our massive data warehouse, as well as articulate new data requirements.
• Develop predictive models that explain or predict hiring outcomes, productivity, engagement, and retention.
• Prepare and deliver powerful presentations with rich data visualizations and meaningful business conclusions.
• Participate in data science learning sessions and continue to explore emerging methods and technologies in the analytics space.

Qualifications

Required:

• Deep understanding of common data science concepts, including machine learning or deep learning techniques (e.g., K-NN, naïve Bayes, SVM, decision trees, neural networks, regression, statistical significance testing, NLP/text analytics, Bayesian analysis, survival analysis, etc.)
• Two semesters or one year of academic or work experience using SQL database technologies.
• Two semesters or one year of academic or work experience with R, Python, or other statistical or machine learning scripting languages.
• Ability to clearly and concisely explain the output of technical analyses to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Education

• Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program in an analytical field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics) or a social science with a strong focus on quantitative methods (e.g., Psychology, Sociology, Organizational Behavior, Anthropology).
