We're adding a Short Term Disability (STD) Case Manager to our group, a role where you will be responsible handling short term disability claims from intake through to payment. You will have key accountabilities that require a dedication to quality and knowledge of the insurance business. Your strong communication skills will help you succeed and build relationships with key internal and external partners. On a typical day, you can expect to accomplish the resolution of short term disability claims, address escalated client concerns, and develop case management plans to either facilitate a Return-to-Work program or a transition to a long term disability option.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up new short term disability claims, which includes contract interpretation and systems data entry
  • Make decisions on claims by doing contractual, medical, functional, and vocational analysis
  • Communicate to clients and stakeholders within the medical community
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal team members in order to stay within our service level targets
  • Regularly prioritize conflicting demands with tight turnaround times

Qualifications:

  • Fully bilingual in English and in French
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Intermediate PC skills including data entry, MS Word and MS Excel
  • Strong customer service experience
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Analytical skills with a focused attention to detail, particularly with numbers, spelling and grammar
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively deliver difficult messages to clients
  • You enjoy working in a team environment
  • You are skilled in multi-tasking, prioritization, and work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to balance conflicting priorities
  • Insurance claims knowledge or experience would be an asset to you in this role
