Role Overview

Collins is looking for Senior Industrial Engineering Technician with experience to work in our Top Level Manufacturing IPT (Integrated product team) in Wilsonville. This position will work with a variety of technology while supporting multiple product lines in our Commercial Systems Operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in understanding and creating manufacturing test procedures, troubleshooting complex processes, and communicating solutions to a broad range of audiences. This position will be part of an integrated product team that will support test solutions for new and existing Heads-Up Displays electronic-optical products. This position’s primary role will be to support normal shift production. Time management, prioritization, quick context switching, and clear communication skills are a must. Daily tasks will include working in close coordination with other IE Techs, test technicians, industrial engineers, manufacturing electrical engineers, design engineers, build operators, customers, suppliers and other support staff. The candidate that will fill this position will benefit from software experience/expertise in applications such as eView, SAP, INFOR and Office applications. This position also requires supporting processes of Environmental Stress Screening, vibration testing and associated software suites.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide Test Technician and Assembler support for production process related issues
  • Oversees the audit process to ensure that established quality standards are met.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of cost reduction and process improvements to ensure efficiency of operations and cost effectiveness.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of new activities to ensure smooth operations and optimal use of facilities.
  • Review new product test solutions that maximize test requirement coverage and fit in manufacturing process
  • Sets operational strategies and plans for sequencing of work, such as build and delivery, to ensure smooth operations and optimal use of resources.
  • Reviews issues with cell performance and productivity and oversees the development and implementation of action plans to maximize performance and productivity.
  • Oversees all customer interface to ensure customer needs and issues are resolved and the customers receive satisfactory standard of service.
  • Responsible for all or a major portion of processing operations in the plant.
  • Oversees production operations (shop floor management, workforce management, and flow disruption management), maintenance, plant engineering, scheduling and personnel.
  • Manages and supervises the work of manufacturing production disciplines in the Operations function.
  • Performs professional or management work regularly across multiple Manufacturing disciplines.
  • Includes activities that cannot be attributed to a defined Operations discipline.
  • Prepare and present project/technical information to peers, internal management and customers
  • Execute lean electronics improvement activities
  • Coordinate several projects and complex engineering activities while balancing production priorities and schedules
  • Accountable for all materials and logistics problem resolutions to ensure availability of materials at point of use.
  • Provide leadership in driving to root cause of failure modes
  • Support in order production safety quality, schedule and cost
  • Continuously evaluate process flow and remove barriers impeding yield and throughput goals
  • Works with Design Engineers to analyze and resolve design problems. Coordinates design changes with Engineering and Change Control Board

Basic Qualifications:
Candidates for this role should possess a AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. US Citizenship or Permanent Residence is required. Candidates must have manufacturing, test, troubleshooting and root cause experience.
