Job Description

Eaton’s Golf Pride is currently seeking a Design Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Pinehurst, NC office. Relocation assistance will be provided.

Position Overview:

Golf Pride, the world #1 leader in performance golf grip equipment, seeks a unique individual with an eye for design, who can transform a visual concept into a 3D digital mechanical design. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and manage a global product design portfolio that will consistently deliver compelling visual designs worthy of the Golf Pride brand reputation. Golf Pride is transforming the grip category and changing the perception of grips from “handles” to “performance equipment.” Responsibilities include converting artwork/renderings to 2D and 3D digital files to generate 3D rapid prototypes and 3D part and tooling designs. Quality and speed of design are paramount to excite both our customers and our end consumers. This is a fast paced, dynamic and fulfilling position for the right individual.

In this function you will:
  • Efficiently produce initial concept renderings collaborating with outside graphic design agencies, customers and the internal marketing team
  • Efficiently and timely produce initial 3D designs for AM tooling and physical prototyping ultimately delivering a final 3D product design that we deliver to Golf Pride's international design team
  • Seamlessly collaborate with a team of inside and outside designers that can flex appropriately to the workload and manage all of the design projects with a workflow management system that ensures on time delivery.
  • Facilitate the modernization and standardization of the design process within Golf Pride for product design
  • Establish Global standards for product design that are centralized and easy to access. Contribute to standard design work, design checklists, and standard technical data packages for rapid and accurate transfers between design teams.
  • Leverage expertise from other Eaton divisions, external agencies and consultants to continuously improve design standards.
  • Ensure design standards are compatible with tooling suppliers.
  • Support rapid prototyping design for Global Innovation Center (GIC) in Pinehurst, NC.
  • Champion Global Change Management including ensuring all design documentation is managed and controlled in a central database (ENOVIA) in accordance with Change Management Policies.
  • Ensure IP security is top of mind by establishing best practices for confidentiality.

QualificationsRequired (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in consumer product design, 3D concept design, mechanical design, & design for manufacturing
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a R&D environment
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in rapid prototyping
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with a product design or development team
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
Preferred qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an advanced concept development role
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in golf, sporting goods, or consumer products industries
  • Minimum of 2 years working knowledge of document standards, document control, and change management
  • Minimum of 1 year working with RhinoCAD 3D
  • Experience managing graphic designers, illustrators, and/or industrial designers
  • CAD Software: AutoCAD, ProE, SolidWorks, NX Unigraphics,
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Basic Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator

  • Leverage expertise from other Eaton divisions to continuously improve design standards.
  • Elevate the skillsets of designers, providing them the tools and resources needed for transitioning into 3D design, making them capable of producing fast, accurate 3D product and tooling designs.
  • Manage outside design resources in support of Golf Pride design strategy
  • Manage all Rapid Prototype development and sourcing in support of Global Innovation Center initiatives
  • Ensure design standards are compatible with tooling suppliers.
