Role Overview:
This position is a co-op role for a mechanical design engineer. The candidate will support other mechanical engineers in their actions while also owning engineering actions them-self. We are looking for a person that takes the initiative and can grow and own actions and activities. The product focus is on mechanical aspects of LED lighting both interior and exterior of the aircraft.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Work to create 3D models and drawings, fastener component selection, testing and troubleshooting of the design, and design documentation. Responsible for supporting design and design lifecycle activities. Engineer must be able to work in a collaborative effort with the design team.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Work with the design team on a daily basis to support program and project goals. Manage time effectively to complete assigned actions and show initiative when completing tasks. Performs other related duties as required.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Experience modeling, designing and troubleshooting mechanical housings and packaging for circuit boards and small electrical systems.

Experience with 3D modeling and drawing software. (Example: Solidworks)

Experience with LED lighting design and development

TEAM ENVIRONMENT

The Mechanical Design Engineer – Co-op is expected to work with our New Berlin design team, consisting of the other mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, project engineer, and technicians in order to meet the project schedule and deliverable activities. Mechanical Design Engineer – Co-op reports to the engineering manager.

Basic Qualifications:

• US Citizenship is required.
• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
