Trade Finance and Credit Insurance OfficerCore Benefits: Healthcare Cash Plan, Gain share Incentive Plan, Notable Pension Contribution and 27 days holiday per year plus one additional company dayLocation: London (Quadrant House)Salary: £30000- £35000Closing date: 02.12.19 This is an exciting opportunity to join the Treasury and Trade Finance team as a Trade Finance and Credit Insurance Officer. The role will involve significant relationship management – liaising with banks to manage guarantees, maintaining key databases for guarantees and letters of credit as well as supporting with the coordination of credit insurance requirements. Effective stakeholder management is required with key negotiation and communications skills needed in order to drive success in the role. We’re a leading name in our markets and a diverse, constantly evolving organisation. Key responsibilities and tasks:Bank Guarantees

  • Liaise with banks in order to assist the business in advance of contract signature in regards to negotiating bond texts and provisioning costs

  • Review application forms and prepare formal issuance request to be submitted to the selected bank

  • Review amendment forms and prepare amendment requests(increases/extensions)

  • Maintain bank guarantees database and monitor portfolio of guarantees

  • Review quarterly bank guarantees invoices and prepare payment instructions to Thales Shared Services

  • Monitor payment of invoices and liaise with banks and Shared Services to resolve any payment issues

  • Liaise with the business to achieve reductions or release letters

Parent Company Guarantees

  • Maintain PCGs database and monitor portfolio of guarantees

  • Liaise with the businesses and Thales SA for half-yearly reporting of contingent liabilities

Letters of Credit (LC)

  • Maintain LC database and monitor portfolio of letters of credit

  • Under the supervision of the Senior Export and Trade Finance Manager assist businesses with their LC presentations if requested and interface with advising bank in case of any difficulties

Credit Insurance

  • Under the supervision of the Senior Export and Trade Finance Manager:

  • Act as interface between the business and insurer to make sure, where appropriate, that the best credit insurance coverage is in place, in accordance with DAFIrules

  • Coordinate Credit Insurance for Thales UK on both the short term cover (Atradius) and longer term single risk policies, from assessment of the risks to effective policy set up and monitoring of the risk and reporting requirements

  • After contract start and until last milestone payment receipt, make sure Thales’ interests are safeguarded including exposure (risk curve) actuals vs. forecast – delays – reporting to insurers.

  • Provide both qualitative comments and economic assessment at bid phase to contribute to the Financial memo on those issues

  • Make sure the information is gathered and organised in an agile way - includes data from the various ERPs, from The Treasury tools (Diapason and E Treasury) and from TTF Department’s own Access database

  • Responsibility for all TF & CI reporting and the key entry point for punctual analysis on those subjects

Treasury

  • Manage the daily cash management and Foreign Exchange transaction process including but not limited to : Payment and receipt short term Forecasts , Hedging Front and Middle Office , Exposure measurement

  • Specify , develop and maintain interfaces in and out the Treasury Management Software ( MCC Diapason ) from / to ERP’s ( SAP , Oracle )

  • Analysis of cash evolution at project level to interact with internal stakeholders and suggest improvement

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Financial training and background - taste for International affairs and news

  • Interpersonal skills, key stakeholder relationships are internal (Finance, Legal, Business controllers and Commercial) and external (Banks and Credit Insurers)

  • Knowledge of Thales Finance procedures and organisation

  • A Business enabling attitude and commercial acumen is required to be an advisor and solution provider to the business

  • Comprehensive IT skills including

    • Excel ,

    • Access ( SQL database handling ) ,

    • MCC Diapason

    • Synthetic view with a capacity to drill down, ask questions and challenge stakeholders when necessary
