The Position
This position is responsible for leading the IT Operations functions in the delivery of highly available, customer focused, cost effective systems and services for the Americas. The IT Operations function includes Infrastructure Management, IT Operations, Client Architecture and Service Management, IT Security Services and IT Vendor Management. This position will act independently in setting the overall strategy and performance standards for the operations and client services teams. This individual is key to ensuring alignment of the IT Operations area with the overall IT strategy and system delivery efforts and will provide leadership to the system operations, client services and IT security teams.
Relationships
Reports to the Corporate Vice President (CVP) of Global IT Operations and is a member of the management team. Manages one of three regionally located global data centers and interacts with headquarters (HQ) to develop global strategy, align services and service levels and management for all NN entities in the Americas region. Interacts with all levels of the organization and multiple internal and external stakeholders. Has a broad reach beyond NNI Sales and Marketing having responsibility for providing IT administrative services to Product Supply locations and multiple Research and Development locations.
Essential Functions
  • Establish and measure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure service levels are met or exceeded
  • Serves as a valued proactive advisor to stakeholders
  • Utilizes extensive knowledge of the global and local business functions to research and evaluate new and future technologies
  • Collaborates globally to ensure involvement and influence over the decision making and strategic planning process
  • Seeks out, builds and maintains trusting and collaborative relationships and partnerships
  • Develop and execute an IT strategy aligned with business needs, define planning, architecture and optimization to meet business goals and objectives
  • Develop short- and long-range plans to ensure capacity and system performance
  • Align with the Global Operating Model. Develop and execute a regional IT operations services plan for the North America
  • Responsible for forecasting and managing a $25M+ operations budget
  • Define and enforce change control standards for all infrastructure related systems
  • Ensures appropriate availability and reliability of network components through day-to-day support, operations, and maintenance
  • Performs day-to-day infrastructure support, customer support operations and maintenance and plans, develops, and implements an adaptive infrastructure
  • Assess and manage vendor performance that provide help desk services, network delivery and wireless network optimization
  • Reviews and summarizes vendor proposals based on the project or service delivery and develops proposals for functional area
  • Manage new and existing contracts for software, leases and services
  • Integrates proactive efforts to decrease system and customer downtime and enhance customer satisfaction
  • Uses in-depth knowledge of current and emerging risk management practices and provides insight into the long-term implications of changes to ensure business sustainability
  • Stays abreast of risk management best practices and oversees the translation of those changes into processes, projects and systems
  • Translates business requirements into computing security technical requirements and reviews current and proposed systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks
  • Utilizes, executes and participates in audits and assessments to analyze and evaluate incidents, documenting resolutions, and leads remediation to ensure compliance

Physical Requirements
0-10% overnight travel required.
Development of People
Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business and ensure that interim reviews are held. Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) is required. A field of study in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or another related field is preferred
  • An advanced degree is preferred
  • A minimum of 12 years of progressively responsible Computer Science, IT, programming/systems analysis or other related experience required
  • A minimum of 5 years supervisory experience required
  • Ability to act as advisor to management and customers on advanced complex technical research studies
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic plans with practical implementation of those strategies
  • Advanced understanding and experience with outsourcing evaluations, implementations and contract management, including the Novo Nordisk Global Service Center is preferred
  • Experience with Sarbanes Oxley Compliance for data centers is preferred
  • Experienced in developing and managing Service Level Agreements (SLAs) is required
  • Expert knowledge of project management, business analysis and systems development life cycle is preferred
  • Knowledge of Novo Nordisk project methodology and governance processes are preferred
  • Expert understanding of infrastructure architecture planning and deployment
  • Global stakeholder management experience preferred
  • Experience providing IT services for multiple countries is preferred
  • Proven record of budget forecasting and management
  • Proven track record of strong people management skills, including developing employees
  • Track record of successful execution of IT projects of different levels of complexity with a variety of team structures is preferred
  • Vendor negotiations and management skills are required
