Become part of our OpenShift team and use your passion for technology, development, and testing, balanced with the responsibility of running a hosted service and supporting an offering. The Red Hat OpenShift team is looking for an experienced developer to join us as a Senior Software Engineer to enhance our Operator SDK and Ansible Operator team in San Francisco, CA or remotely. In this role, you will be a key member of our OpenShift team and focus on the creation and standardization of Kubernetes application operators. You'll help us provide a service that will change how development is done, using the power of Red Hat's technologies and services hosted in the cloud. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll need to be able to work in a fast-paced and sometimes chaotic environment with the goal of making our end users and customers more effective with every release. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

Primary job responsibilities

• Work closely with engineers on the Red Hat OpenShift and Operator Framework team to provide seamless developer experience
• Interact with multiple teams within Red Hat and with the open source community
• Use your excellent communication skills to communicate with other Red Hat OpenShift engineers, product managers, and management across the globe
• Serve as an engineering contributor to Operator SDK and Ansible Operator projects and Red Hat OpenShift to deliver the functionality needed
• Work in a fast-paced environment
• Communicate with end users through IRC, Slack, forums, and email

Required skills

• 3-5 years of experience with enterprise software development
• Highly skilled in test frameworks like JUnit, TestNG, PyUnit, etc.
• Direct experience with RESTful APIs and web-based user interface automation
• Motivated, innovative, and always looking for new ways to contribute to the team
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly
• Collaborate effectively with engineers to solve complex problems to deliver end-to-end quality in container technology and customer experience
• Design and develop test plans and test cases based upon functional and design specifications focusing on specific user stories, including test cases for regression of current offerings
• Computer science or equivalent experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to directly interact with customers
• Ability to quickly learn and work on a day-to-day basis with technologies like Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Fedora, cgroups and SELinux, and everything containers and Kubernetes-related
• Familiarity with Red Hat OpenShift or Red Hat Ansible Automation is a plus
