Overall Responsibility:

The Sr. Talent Acquisition Associate plays a significant role within Houghton Mifflin Harcourt as they partner with Talent Acquisition Partners and the business to help attract and hire new talent. The Sr. Talent Acquisition Associate schedules candidate interviews, arranges candidate travel & reimbursements, extends offers via DocuSign, initiates background screenings, processes on-boarding and completes day one employment verification. Additionally, they run reports to provide metrics for their business units and participate in planning & executing career fairs and diversity events.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Interview Scheduling - contacts all candidates, internal and external, to gather availability and works with hiring team to arrange all interviews; initiates feedback forms for all interviews
  • Candidate Interview Travel – arranges applicable candidate travel; ensures candidate travel follows the HMH travel policy; processes candidate expense reimbursement as applicable
  • Full Life-Cycle Recruiting for Non-Exempt Positions – fills non-exempt roles (e.g. Internships) for assigned Recruiting Pod
  • Employment Offer Packages – generates the offer letter in the ATS and processes the offer package via DocuSign
  • Background Checks – initiates background check process for all eligible positions; reports result and sends for legal review if needed
  • New Hire On-Boarding – processes all new hire on-boarding steps (i.e. sends new hire documentation via DocuSign; processes boarding into the applicable HMH systems; and processes day one employment verification in local office); responsible for creation and maintenance of new hire employee files
  • Collaboration – joins hiring strategy call with the Hiring Manager and Recruiting Pod to help determine the job description and all details for that job; responsible for speaking to the interview process and assisting in determining the interviewing team and interview type for each job requisition

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Generating reports in Excel while using Pivot Tables
  • Must be able to communicate with colleagues and external partners via phone, WebEx and face-to-face

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • 2+ year Administrative Background and/or 2+ year Human Resources Background

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be capable of sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time
  • Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing)
  • The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings
