Raytheon currently has an exciting IT position available that supports the Raytheon mission of making the world a safer place. We are seeking a System Administrator that will be working in a highly collaborative, multi-platform and multi–disciplined environment. This is an IT position supporting the Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems Consolidated Manufacturing Center in Forest, MS. The position is to work as part of an IT Program Engagement support team responsible for DOD Collateral IT support. The candidate will need the soft skills to collaborate with a diverse team of individuals from different departments, vendors and partners. With rapidly changing environments, the candidate will have to be able to quickly prioritize their actions and think on their feet. Even though, the candidate will be working on group projects, they will need to be a self-starter and capable of completing tasks and projects on their own with little oversite. They will also have the opportunity to participate in multi-year projects that will demand them to utilize their strong documentation, prioritization and project management skills to get tasks & actions done on time with a “right the first time” attitude. The work environments will be complex and technically challenging so the candidate with have to have a strong troubleshooting skillset and have a “think out of the box” mindset to solve many of the tasks on a weekly basis.
The candidate is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software related to Windows and non-Windows (UNIX/LINUX/NetApp) infrastructures within a classified environment. Duties include, but are not limited to, server infrastructure maintenance and support; server management (software and hardware); storage management (logical and physical); access management in an Active Directory authentication domain; data backup and restoration; software and license configuration; embedded operating systems management; new systems design and integration; and workstation/user support.

Job Duties:

  • Specialized Test Equipment Support (Daily Maintenance, Business Continuity Support)
  • Working in informal and formal teams with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Troubleshooting Software Issues (Custom App and COTS products)
  • Make recommendations for future upgrades and changes to policy
  • Troubleshoot problems reported by users and analyze and isolate issues
  • Maintain integrity of server deployment, and security
  • Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services (e.g. LDAP and/ or Active Directory)
  • Administer servers, desktop computers, printers, software deployment, security updates and patches
  • Implement and support cybersecurity settings on networked, peer-to-peer, and stand-alone workstations
  • Support a ticket based tracking system where you are assigned trouble tickets and manage issues from creation to closure
  • Support daily stand-up meetings

Required Skills:
  • Experience supporting NetApp systems
  • Integrated AD authentication (Kerberos, LDAP and/or Centrify)
  • Veritas Backup Exec/NetBackup or understanding of server backup concepts
  • Experience with full disk imaging using industry tools (Symantic Ghost) and Windows Backup Technologies
  • Experience with SMTP, DHCP, DNS, NIS, LDAP, CIFS, NFS, and Samba
  • Experience gathering requirements, designing, and implementing appropriate solutions
  • Experience with application installation and multi-server environment/deployment
  • Experience with VMware Software, Virtual Workstations, ESXi, and vCenter support and administration
  • Experience with Linux architecture, deployment, administration, networking, performance monitoring/tuning, security hardening, and troubleshooting
  • Experience in support of Microsoft Windows desktops (e.g. Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 10)
  • Experience in support of Microsoft Server distributions (e.g. 2003, 2008, 2012, and 2016)
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for network printers
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Desired Skills:
  • High availability and failover scenarios, load balance environments
  • Automation via scripting - file replication, file system tuning, upgrading and configuring
  • System configuration management experience (i.e. puppet, bcfg2, cfengine)
  • Experience with Splunk
  • Experience with Lumension/Ivanti
  • Experience with HP server hardware support and diagnosis
  • Experience with HP storage hardware support and diagnosis
  • CompTIA Security+ certification
  • Industry-recognized certifications relevant to a UNIX/Linux System Administrator
  • Knowledge of NAS and/or SAN
  • ITIL Foundations v3
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing desktop hardware
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer interaction skills with users of all levels
  • General knowledge of LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems

Required Education:
  • B.S. in Information Technology or related technical discipline and 6 years of related experience or in lieu of degree candidate must have 14 years of related experience.

Desired Education:
  • M.S in Information Technology or related technical discipline and 4 years of related experience

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
