Manager, Process Management, Bank Operations

This role in Bank Operations is responsible for leading a critical business function delivering on Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) requirements for information returns reporting and withholding. These requirements touch every area of the Bank as information returns are required for a wide variety of transactions including interest payments, IRA distributions, etc. Timely and accurate execution of information returns and withholding is critical to deliver on our regulatory obligations and provide a hassle free experience for our customers.

Responsibilities:

As the business owner and operations leader for Bank information returns reporting and withholding functions, you will:

  • Lead a motivated team of associates, business partners and vendors to own the end to end delivery of Bank’s objectives for this function.
  • Develop and own business policies and requirements for information returns reporting and withholding.
  • Design and execute processes and projects to deliver on information reporting and withholding requirements.
  • Develop controls and metrics to ensure business requirements are consistently delivered and to monitor end-to-end process performance.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to drive issue resolution, mitigate risks or to achieve desired business outcomes.
  • Create transparency for senior leaders and other stakeholders on business performance.
  • Define target state cost, quality, customer experience and delivery capabilities in this space and deliver on a roadmap to achieve that target state.
  • Engage with Legal and Compliance functions in the tax reporting space to ensure consistent delivery against state and federal requirements.
  • Engage with lines of businesses across Capital One to promote best practices, proactively mitigate risks and elevate delivery of information returns reporting for all of Capital One.
  • Represent Capital One at relevant industry forums and associations.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in process management and experience leading critical back-office functions for leading banking and financial services institutions. Familiarity with information returns reporting and withholding regulations would be preferred. They must be comfortable in developing an understanding of Capital One’s banking products and our technology, data and delivery platforms. In addition, they must be able to effectively communicate with and influence partners and stakeholders across the company. Strong leadership, organization and delivery skills, and the capability to adapt to a dynamic, Agile and learning oriented culture are essential to success in this role.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Economics, or Business Management
  • At least 2 years of experience in process or project management
  • At least 2 years of experience in people management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Economics, or Business Management
  • 2+ years of experience in Tax reporting, Compliance or Risk Management
  • 4+ years of experience in process or project management
  • 4+ years of experience in people management
  • Lean, Business Process Management or Six Sigma certifications and relevant project experience
