The Wintel System Administrator (SA) is responsible for designing, implementing, operating, and maintaining Wintel systems and related components to ensure high levels of availability and security of the system. This person will drive adherence to the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure Wintel system maintenance is consistent with organization goals, industry best practices, and established security requirements. In addition to traditional Systems Administration responsibilities, you will be part of a team that will leverage multiple cloud technologies to evolve our digital platforms. Experience with Cloud technologies, infrastructure transformation and automation is required.
The right candidate will need to possess the drive and interpersonal skills to resolve common conflicts experienced through transformation, help evolve the team, the platform and constantly drive business value in a dynamic and hyper-fast environment.
Responsibilities
·Provide hands-on Wintel system administration, scripting and maintenance for cloud systems
·Collaborate with a cross-functional team of application developers, operations engineers, and architects to understand complex product requirements and translate them into automated solutions
·Collaborate with peers to support and improve architecture, systems, processes, standards and tools
·Participate in architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment, security, and high availability in support of Infrastructure, Software and Platform as a Service offerings
·Develop and maintain capacity plans for all systems
·Respond rapidly to system maintenance needs, including on evenings and weekends
·Ensure adherence to policies/standards
·Write and maintain code for automating the creation of scalable/resilient systems/infrastructure
·Write and maintain clear, concise documentation, runbooks and operational standards including infrastructure diagrams
·Ensure all solutions are properly monitored and instrumented
·Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in development, test and production environments
Qualifications
·8+ Years Server Administration with enterprise level skills in Wintel and AIX physical and virtual environment management experience
·Working knowledge of standard Wintel security methodologies, hardening procedures, and best practices
·Evaluate and maintain server, storage, and other IT standards for the enterprise, and all supporting products and services
·Understanding of code and script (PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby).
·Analyze server and storage characteristics (e.g. CPU behavior, latency, transmission speeds, packet loss and throughput), triage and troubleshoot problems
·Proven experience with complex multi-site and global network design, multi-layered switch environment, firewalls, VPN, Load balancers, and DNS
·Familiar with the fundamentals of web application and relational database architectures
·Understanding of agile and other development processes and methodologies
·Experience in automation and orchestration using utilities such as Puppet, Chef, Docker, or Cloud Foundry preferred
·Knowledge of the various services and capabilities of cloud computing platforms (AWS, OpenStack, Azure etc.)
·Knowledge and understanding of CI/CD processes and tools
·Aptitude for influencing others without direct authority
·Ability to prioritize, and work well under pressure
·Excellent communication and documentation skills, both in technical and non-technical arenas
·Ability to work with a global support team
·Ability and willingness for on-call and after hours work
·Adept at learning and applying new technologies and solving new problems
·Relevant certifications (Wintel, AWS, CCP, etc.)
Education:
·Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience
