The Mission Support Department within the Whole Life Systems Engineering (WLSE) Directorate is looking for an Inventory Control Specialist to support the Performance Based Logistics (PBL) team in Louisville, KY.
The Whole Life Systems Engineering (WLSE) Directorate is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable, under configuration control and delivered on time. WLSE consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. WLSE disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. WLSE’s charter is focused in two main areas; product support and technical data support. In the product support area, the Departments include Reliability Engineering, System Safety, Mission Support and Lifecycle Engineering. On the technical data side, the Departments are Hardware Configuration Management and Integrated Design Check (CM/IDC), Software Configuration Management (SWCM), and Data Management, Engineering Support and Execution (DEX)
The Inventory Control Specialist will be responsible for effective inventory management of materials received and will be located at an offsite warehouse location. In this role, the Specialist will directly lead a team of Third party Logistics (3PL) members to ensure inventory accuracy through company approved cycle count processes, warehouse management practices, and contractual requirements. The Specialist will ensure inventory accuracy of all Raytheon materials stored within the warehouse, as well as be accountable for processes, compliance, mission assurance, and business system data integrity. The role will also require cross-functional support to the 3PL Warehouse Liaison. Support will include but not be limited to receiving, material validation and delivery.
The ideal candidate will possess and demonstrate the skills and experience necessary to perform inventory control and accountability. The position also requires interfacing with the customer(s), Contracts, Program Office, Supply Chain, Item Managers (IMs) IMWM, (Inventory Managed Warehouse Managed i.e. Shipping/Receiving/Inventory), Production Control and Engineering.
Responsibilities may include the following:
  • Develop and implement procedures to ensure that adequate inventory levels are present and accurate
  • Leads a team of people to perform a physical inventory cycle count annually
  • Ensure inventory cycle counts are completed regularly and in a timely manner to meet contract requirements
  • Investigate and correct discrepancies in reported quantities and locations of all inventory
  • Develop corrective actions to mitigate future discrepancies
  • Identify and optimize common inventory items
  • Achieving high levels of customer satisfaction through excellence in receiving, identifying, and distribution of materials
U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
This position may be a Salary Grade G06 Eng. Logistics Specialist I, or G07 Eng. Logistics Specialist II based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and education requirements for the position.
Required Skills, Education, and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain management, Logistics, or related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ Warehouse management/Inventory control experience
  • Maintain organization between cross-functional departments
Desired Skills, Education, and Experience:
  • A minimum of 4 years Warehouse management/Inventory control experience
  • Working knowledge of Louisville SAP
  • Experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Warehouse Management System (WMS), and Logistics execution utilizing business tools.
  • Demonstrate experience in managing government furnished material
  • Knowledge of other Production and Planning Software (EAGLE/MMIS)
  • Knowledge of Government reporting systems (CAV, eRMS, PEDREP)
  • Ability to work alternate work schedule – some overtime may be required
  • Capability to read, interpret, and understand complex contractual documents
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong People Management Skills- Delegation, coaching, motivating, and conflict management
