Corporate Development Manager

Job Description

Rackspace is seeking a Corporate Development Manager with 2+ years of investment banking or comparable experience who is passionate about cloud technology and IT services. The Corporate Development team at Rackspace works closely with Rackspace’s business unit leads, C-Level executives, and private equity ownership and broad members to implement corporate strategy through potential mergers and acquisitions (M&A), divestitures, investments, and strategic partnerships. You will be an integral part of a small team, tasked with identifying and evaluating potential acquisition targets, working collaboratively across the organization (including Product, Operations, Finance, Legal, HR, and other teams) to perform due diligence, and helping to drive strategic decision making.

In this role you will:

• Help identify new M&A opportunities, screen potential M&A targets, perform due diligence, prepare financial and valuation models, and assist with internal presentations to senior leaders.
• Analyze M&A, investment and strategic partnership opportunities through rigorous financial and strategic analysis.
• Research relevant industries with a focus on market size, competitive landscape, and valuations
• Help identify potential M&A transactions through idea generation, industry research, attending conferences, proactive outreach, and screening of inbound leads.
• Maintain corporate development databases and transaction logs, and work with Finance and third parties to gather relevant industry and operational data to support our evaluation of transactions and new business opportunities.

Basic Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.
• 2 to 3 years of specific work experience in investment banking, strategy consulting, venture capital, private equity, or in a strategy or corporate development function at a technology company.
• Excellent financial modelling and analytical skills.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High level of proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong work ethic, integrity, mature personality, and comfortable working with and presenting to senior executives.
• Ability to make sound decisions quickly, evaluating relevant context under pressure.
• Strong communication skills; written, verbal and presentation.
• Ability to develop and deliver messaging, presentations, and communications to varying audiences, adapting deliver methods and styles.
