Our business

The Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) and Wealth Management (WM) are two of J.P. Morgan’s core businesses, and global leaders in their respective markets. The Legal Group which supports the CIB and WM provide transactional and strategic legal support as required for the various businesses within the CIB and WM and is organized across different practice groups.

Opportunity

The Frankfurt Legal Department is looking for a lawyer to join a team of lawyers supporting the German CIB and WM businesses. The role will report to the Senior Regional Counsel for Germany and will also interact with the EMEA Practice Group Heads primarily for WM and Regulatory Development.

Key responsibilities:

- Identifying and managing legal risk and advising the business and other stakeholders on relevant legal and regulatory issues;

- Advising on legal and regulatory developments;

- Reviewing, negotiating and drafting legal transactional documentation primarily for Wealth Management;

- Assisting in the development of policies, procedures and standard forms;

- Coordination as needed with the CIB Legal Practice Groups for Regulatory Change and Wealth Management;

- Coordination with and engagement of external counsel as and when required.

Requirements

- Qualified lawyer with first experience in German law (in particular banking, derivatives and regulatory law) with relevant experience gained at a top tier law firm or a bank or investment firm. Strong drafting, negotiation and legal analytical skills

- Excellent verbal communication and experience of dealing with senior management in challenging and demanding situations and under tight deadlines

- Experience in transactional workflow and ability to deal in an informed manner with a wide range of products

- A self-starter able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
