In the first 12 months you will deliver:

• Enhanced Database Administration through Automation: Concur is seeking to enhance manageability and scalability of our database environments through automation of standard tasks such as database provisioning, monitoring, and machine responses to common alert conditions that eliminate the need for DBA involvement in low-level or repetitive tasks.
• Standardization of Database Administration Across Platforms: Concur is working to standardize how databases are administered across all platforms. This is accomplished by implementation of cross-platform tools such as AppDynamics for database monitoring.
• Improvements to Database Performance: A DBA at this level is expected to be a subject matter expert on at least one database platform we support. We emphasize proactive involvement with developers and infrastructure experts in identifying opportunities for enhancing performance of our databases.
• Improvements to the Database Implementation Lifecycle: Continual service improvement, including outreach efforts to the development, QA, product management, and service management teams, is a focus for this role.

In order to accomplish this you will need to:

Responsibilities

- Resolution of incidents related to database infrastructure

- Implementation of changes to existing database infrastructure

- Participation on projects and build outs of new database environments

- Addressing security vulnerabilities and keeping database infrastructure secured and up to date

What do you need to bring:

Requirements

- Minimum of 5 years experience in at least two relational database platforms - Microsoft SQL Server mandatory, MySQL or Couchbase preferred, experience with AWS highly welcomed

- Minimum of 5 years experience in scripting on Windows preferably PowerShell

- Minimum of 5 years experience supporting relational databases in an enterprise-level production environment.

- Solid foundation in core database administration competencies including high-availability, recoverability (backup\restore), installation and configuration, security, performance tuning and troubleshooting.

- Minimum 3-year degree in computer science or related field

- Passion for working with databases and how data can benefit our customers and our business.

- Enthusiasm for working in a distributed, global team environment, including participation in a 24x7x365 on-call rotation.

- A positive attitude and the traits that are critical to success as a DBA: analytical skills; critical thinking skills; attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to properly prioritize, plan and organize work; and the ability to multi-task effectively
