Job Summary

Position summary:

The India data team at Nuance communications Inc. is seeking a skilled and motivated senior level research data engineer. The successful candidate will have expert knowledge and hands-on experience working on large scale data and will implement tools and processes to support research teams.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

• Set up a unified portal for tracking data and dashboards for assessing coverage of data sources.
• Write data log parsers.
• Contribute to and run key modules to deidentify data, including testing tools for de-identification quality assessment.
• Establish regression tests and procedures to monitor key processes.
• Perform tasks related to securing and keeping the products, tools, and processes that you are responsible for securing

Knowledge, skills and qualifications:

Minimum years of work experience: 5+

Required skills:

Demonstrated skills in Python scripting, Linux tools and shell scripting.Text data parsing and data miningPrior experience developing projects using source control. [git, svn, cvs]Good understanding of database concepts and software best practicesAbility to work proactively, collaboratively, and independently, including with remote international staff.Proactive clear documentation, both of code and regular status.

Minimum of BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent. Plus either 5+ years work experience or significant hands-on course work utilizing techniques for managing big data and databases.

Preferred skills:

Experience in Natural Language Processing and data sciences, or with text encoding.Development of prior applications and/or knowledge of open source big data programming tools and technology (Spark, S3, ... )Experience in continuous integration frameworks like git or Jenkins, or in Django frameworkNoSQL databases like MongoDB
