The Role
Tesla’s Finance Payroll team facilitates better, faster, and more informed decision-making across the business. Business intelligence and analytics are a skillset, toolset, and mindset we use to achieve this goal. We strive for 100% payroll accuracy and timeliness on behalf of our associates and the company. Protecting, analyzing, simplifying, and ensuring “single-source-of-truth” salary and tax reporting for both internal and external customers is a core business function. Payroll is integrated with every part of the business and we operate in a constantly evolving and demanding environment. The business intelligence analyst role is critical to meeting those demands by ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial information to meet their needs and drive business objectives.
Responsibilities
Duties are assigned and prioritized based upon the company’s evolving needs and include:
Work with Finance, IT, Business Intelligence, and other business partners to drive the development of reporting and analytics platforms for payroll data.
Drive payroll accuracy and timeliness through the creation of clean, reliable, and scalable “single-source-of-truth” data sets.
Partner with Payroll team and Payroll tax team to help find and automate manual workflows and train them in tools and skills to become self-sufficient as needed.
Support day to day Payroll operations though data import/export preparation, file transfers and funding.
Work with Payroll team and Payroll Systems team to evaluate, and analyze metrics that will improve payroll processes and provide transparency to decision makers.
Prepare professional business presentations, dashboard, and metrics that are predominantly data driven with calculated targets.
Perform rigorous analyses on large and complex data sets from multiple ERP systems (i.e. UltiPro, Workday, Kronos) to facilitate and simplify payroll operations. Provide strategic insights, hypotheses, and conclusions based upon findings to better anticipate and meet business needs.
Support SOX control data validations for annual walk through
Required Qualifications
Evidence of exceptional ability
Experience with UltiPro, Kronos, and Workday ERP systems is major plus. Experience with other major Payroll and HR systems is a plus.
Experience with Cognos BI.
Experience creating custom reports, data connectors and providing real-time information through integrated portal.
Experience with advanced Excel BI functionality and languages (Power Query [M], PowerPivot [DAX]).
Experience with data analytics tools and languages (R, Python).
Demonstrated success in driving positive change in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment.
Curious with a need to understand why and how processes work.
Intelligence and ingenuity to solve complex problems.
Ability to work independently, detail-oriented, and execution focused.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
