The Research Informatics for Operations (RIO) team is looking for a Senior Clinical Data Analyst to be responsible for the analytic work required to successfully integrate clinical and other data from Partners (PHS) and Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) systems into the DFCI enterprise data warehouse (DFCI EDW). This data analyst will also work with research data analysts, research leadership and the EDW team to integrate PHS/BCH data sources with other DFCI data, including structured and unstructured data; and collaborate with the Informatics staff to develop improved access to and sharing of PHS/BCH data through the Oncology Data Retrieval System (OncDRS) and the DFDW.

The Senior Clinical Data Analyst will be responsible for identification, analysis, requirements development, profiling, standardization, quality assurance and documentation of the PHS and BCH data in the DFCI EDW. In this capacity, the incumbent will report to the Director of Research Data Services and work closely with EDW team to identify and analyze potential data assets and integrate these assets into the DFCI EDW. The incumbent will be expected to manage this process with minimal guidance, from specification gathering through deployment, including liaising and coordinating with external groups, producing detailed project plans, specifying underlying data components, and working alongside the existing Informatics technical and operational teams to ensure seamless integration and implementation within the existing Informatics workflows.

Responsibilities

• Working with DFCI research leaders to understand the types of data that they need from PHS and BCH.
• Working with key stakeholders at PHS and BCH to understand data sources and develop methods for obtaining and sharing data.
• Analyzing, profiling and documenting data from PHS and BCH source systems, including EPIC, PHS RPDR, BCH 360, BWH Path, PHS Radiology, to ensure that all data needed for research, clinical and operations uses is acquired.
• Mapping, normalizing, and harmonizing PHS and BCH data so that it can be effectively integrated with DFCI data in the EDW.
• Participating in the specification of policies governing research data, including security and privacy standards.
• Developing processes and analytics to measure and ensure the quality and completeness of research data being generated from operational and other systems, including data profiling and data quality monitoring.
• Helping with the development and implementation of processes for sharing data with internal DFCI stakeholders and external BCH and PHS stakeholders.
• Working closely with the EDW team, other informatics groups and research leaders on enterprise-wide data acquisition, data derivation, data documentation and data model development.
• Works closely with knowledge management and EDW staff to develop, maintain, integrate and use controlled vocabularies, mappings and ontologies necessary to ensure the quality and usability of PHS and BCH data in the DFCI EDW.
• Responsible for the security and confidentiality of private clinical and financial information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics or research-related program required; graduate degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience performing data analysis in research analyses and visualization work in a healthcare research or clinical setting required.
• Strong skills in analysis using SQL; experience with data analytic and visualization software, including SAS, R, SPSS, Tableau, Spotfire, or BusinessObjects, required.
• Strong knowledge of data housed in electronic medical records, cancer registries, and other healthcare systems as well as medical terminologies, controlled vocabularies, ontologies, HIPAA regulations, and industry standards is required.
• Knowledge of Oncology data and related areas strongly preferred.
