Job Summary Under general supervision, the Daily Tax Specialist is responsible for all of the work necessary to ensure correct filing of payroll taxes for our client base, including researching and releasing taxfile holds on impounds, liabilities and payments. Essential Duties
  • Maintain a Tax Daily client range of 7500 clients.
  • Resolve client questions expediently and with a high level of customer service.
  • Process NSF returns of tax fund impound.
  • Process lost client tax liability refunds for client range.
  • Process impounds for mid quarter start balance entry.
  • Process renumber clients including submission of letters to agencies to move tax payments.
  • Respond to inquiries from other departments.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax issues for federal and local taxing authorities.
  • Review out of balance Client Activity Statements in preparation for quarter end.
  • Resolve quarterly discrepancies.
  • Resolve Client by Client issues involving tax.
  • Maintain the Tax Daily procedure manual for each process.
Other duties and responsibilities
  • Backup for other Tax Department processes.
  • Participate in the training of new Paycor employees.
  • On an as-needed basis, process tax notices and amended returns, edit quarterly and annual tax packages, assist with requirements gathering and enrollment of clients for EFT payments as well as the processing of tax check payments.
Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Four-year degree in accounting/finance or equivalent work experience in payroll, accounting or taxation. CPA firm experience helpful.
  • 1 – 3 years experience preparing and filing payroll tax returns.
  • Familiar with Federal, State and Local taxes.
  • Organized and detail oriented with the ability to multitask.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills including an in-depth working knowledge of Excel including formulas and macros. Word knowledge should include mail merge.
  • Basic understanding of creating and maintaining PDF forms extremely helpful.
  • Organized and detail oriented with the ability to multitask.
  • Willing and able to adapt to a changing work environment.
  • Must be able to positively interact with people on a daily basis, be able to take constructive criticism, and work together with others.
