Job Description


Johnson & Johnson, is recruiting for a Project Engineer, located in Guelph.
As Project Engineer you will be responsible for supporting the design, selection, testing, installation and qualifications of equipment and associated systems for the J&J Consumer Manufacturing Facility. This person will influence project scope, develop user requirements, time-lines and budgets, qualification plans, approving equipment and systems specifications and documentation to meet current company, corporate and government requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under limited supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations, the Companies’ policies, procedures and guidelines:
Ensure quality and compliance in all my actions by:
- Attend GMP training on the schedule designated and as appropriate for my role
- Adhere to strict compliance with procedures applicable to my role.
- Exercise the highest level of integrity in the tasks that I perform
- In a timely and prompt manner, identify, report and seek correction for deviations noted in my workplace.
- Embrace a behavior of employee involvement and commitment to doing the job right the first time
Manage simple projects from concept through post implementation.
Support execution activities for complex projects
Conceives, develops and evaluates plans for solving a variety of unique and complex engineering problems that require the regular use of innovation.
Collaborates with Business Unit Managers to determine Technical and Business Objectives to deliver solutions that meet customer requirements, budgets and schedules.
Demonstrates and develops Project Management skills to deliver project on time and within budget with limited supervision
Monitor project status and maintain budget and schedule using tools provided
Conducts assignments involving management of an engineering project which may include design, development, manufacturing, construction, installation, operation and maintenance.
Assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality and client satisfaction, goals and objectives.
Perform all tasks based on the responsibilities for project phases (Concept, Planning, Design, Implementation, and Post-Implementation)
Provides direction to both internal and external resources
Lead and Execute Equipment Qualifications
Co-ordination with Operations for capital project implementation, equipment improvements and upgrades.
Build cross-functional working relationships.
Generate equipment specifications, review quotes, recommend technical solutions
Participate in business case development to support Capital projects
Present business case and project status updates to all levels of management.
Share knowledge and experience with other engineers within the department.
Create and maintain Change Controls, adhering to strict ALCOA requirements
Generate and manage, as assigned, Purchase Requisitions, Purchase Orders, Goods Receipts, and Invoice Mismatches through the Electronic Procurement system.
Maintain up-to-date files for all mechanical and electrical drawings of modifications to machine layouts, equipment designs and fabricated parts, as well as files of operation/maintenance manuals.
Participate in inter-departmental task forces for line extensions, packaging change projects and contract manufacturing as required
Provide technical support to resolve all compliance audit issues.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
-Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is required
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
REQUIRED:
- 2-4 Years in engineering, technical and/or operations is required.
- Infrequent local, national, and international travel may be required
- Basic understanding of the pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging processes and the support of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Quality Improvement Process (QIP), and Validation and Process Excellence strategies in pharmaceutical manufacturing environment is an asset
- Proficiency with computer based programs including email, word processing and databases.
- Demonstrate ability to deliver projects on time and within budget - project management skills
- Must be self-motivated to work with minimal supervision
- Must be a self-starter, persuasive and flexible in actions and willing to assume leadership of projects as required
- Track record of individual initiative and innovation which produced business results
- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills are required.
- Effectively managing one’s time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently.
PREFERRED:
Expertise with mechanical and electrical AUTOCAD
P. Eng designation or progress towards P.Eng. certification
