The Role

Consumer Control Data Analytics and Reporting (CCDAR) team is responsible for independently overseeing the regulatory and operational risk activities within Consumer Banking. The Metrics and Dashboards Team is responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing enhancement of a number of reports and dashboards that enable and inform front line risk owners and First Line of Defense partners to understand their risk management effectiveness across a number of active programs and measurement platforms. This team is also response for key metric design and partnering with stakeholders across all levels in the Consumer Bank, IRM and others to facilitate the design, development and implementation of reporting capabilities directed to senior leadership, internal and external risk audiences, and regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the design and implementation of Tableau dashboard visualizations and define required supporting data architecture (e.g. data marts, centralized data sources, ad hoc data sources) for internal clients
  • Tell the story with data; offer thought leadership on different ways of displaying and interpreting analytical findings and recommend and implement best practices
  • Build and manage teams to manipulate and process large datasets using the analytical and reporting features of multiple tools
  • Define requirements and test data sources for reporting, and design metrics that measure control effectiveness, various risks, and KPIs
  • Advance the use of complex analytical and data visualization techniques
  • Establish the strategy for ongoing assessment of reporting needs and capabilities, and act as an advocate and champion for adoption and use of report delivery solutions and content
  • Maintain the reporting roadmap of implementation and enhancements, manage stakeholder expectations, and create appropriate documentation of the platform, including user guides
  • Manipulate and process large datasets using the analytical and reporting features of multiple tools
  • Define requirements for and test data sources for reporting, and design metrics that measure control effectiveness, various risks, and KPIs
  • Mentor team members to broaden the teams use of complex analytical and data visualization techniques
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams and provide guidance and training to teams in asking appropriate questions, interpreting data, and translating into action

The Candidate:
We are seeking an analytic manager that excels at strategically leading a team of tableau developers while delivering reporting solutions that tell appropriate stories from data and presenting information in visually compelling ways that appeal to executive audiences. In addition to managing a team of analytic consultants, this manager will be responsible for leading Consumer Banking initiatives by collaborating in a matrixed environment. He or she will work closely with their team, and other team members to conceive and execute story ideas.

Successful candidates will have a good understanding of risk management programs in a large, distributed, diverse organization and will leverage this knowledge to facilitate the design, development and implementation of reporting capabilities within Consumer Bank Risk. Critical thinking, credibility, and relationship management will be determining factors in selection.

Preferred location is Charlotte, NC. However, may consider Des Moines, IA; Dallas, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Raleigh, NC; San Antonio, TX; Denver, CO; Portland, OR; St. Louis, MO; Salt Lake City, UT; Minneapolis, MN; Atlanta, GA.

  • Accomplish management responsibilities which include sourcing and hiring talented team members, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, recognizing and developing team members, identifying and managing risks, and completing daily management tasks.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, analytics, or modeling
  • 2+ years of management experience


Desired Qualifications

  • Solid critical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of research and analysis


Other Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships/partnerships within a matrixed organization
  • Proven history managing a team of Tableau developers or producing risk related content
  • Ability to communicate complex statistical concepts to non-experts using data visualizations
  • Proven ability to use SQL to effectively and efficiently obtain data from SQL Server, Teradata and Oracle sources
  • Proficient with SAS to effectively obtain and merge data, perform analytics, and automate reporting from various sources is a plus
  • Good understanding of risk management programs in a large, distributed, diverse organization

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
