What you’ll do:

  • Position Title: GTLC Operations Specialist Intern
  • Location: Vancouver, British Columbia
  • Expected start date to end date: January 6, 2020 to September 4, 2020

PURPOSE & OBJECTIVE OF POSITION

The Operations Specialist position is best suited for candidates who are familiar with data analytics, information systems and have a desire to assist running operations for a global team. Candidate with strong technical, business and or analytical skills will excel in this position. This position requires working collaboratively with a global team of compliance specialists, admins and across teams such as development, project/program management.

This position is part of the Global Technology Legal Compliance (GTLC) team, whose initiative is to ensure SAP technology and products comply with standards imposed by legal requirements such as trade regulations and software licensing laws. The candidate will support various TLC related operational activities such as data management, project management, process coordination, program management and data quality management. The candidate will gain knowledge of how to run a compliance business in a software company while getting hands-on experience with tools used for license compliance, such as “Black Duck” software, SAP’s in-house Product and Product Management System (PPMS), SAP Business Intelligence Platform, Microsoft Office Suite, SAP Analytics Cloud. JIRA.

This candidate possess a detail oriented, disciplined mindset with superb oral and written communication skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision and self-motivation is an asset. Candidate should thrive for achieving the highest quality of work in a fast-paced environment. Relevant training will be provided for the candidate.

EXPECTATIONS & TASKS

  • Assist in program management and operational tasks such as task assignment, project coordination, escalation management, resource management, customer support and KPI monitoring
  • Create reports using Microsoft Office, SAP BI, SAP SAC and other internal business tools
  • Perform data management, analytics tasks such as data cleaning, data entry, data standardization, querying, data manipulation using Microsoft Excel
  • Self-manage the data entry work load and pipeline daily.
  • Create training material, operational manuals and process documentation
  • Provide first level of operational support for various TLC related activities
  • Help improve, simplify ongoing processes, operations and admin activities

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of Project management, project coordination, task management, and program management is a must. Knowledge of JIRA is highly desired.
  • Deep Analytical skills and expertise in Microsoft Excel is required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is strongly desired
  • Strong communication (written and oral) skills are required to succeed in this role
  • Strong problem-solving skills while being detailed oriented will help perform well in this role
  • Knowledge of customer support, setting right customer expectations is desired
  • Software Programming (C/C++, JAVA, JS, SQL) knowledge will be an asset but is not mandatory
  • Prior experience with customer support, program management, creating KPI Dashboards, running operations for a team will be an asset

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be perusing education in the one of the following fields: business information systems, business administration, project management, program management, computer programming, software engineering and analytics
  • At least 4-month previous Coop term experience in a similar role is required.
  • Can commit for 8 months full-time internship.
