Nielsen is looking for a User Experience Manager in its Digital Product Management organization to drive user driven research and design of Nielsen’s digital applications. The Digital portfolio comprises Nielsen’s digital audience measurement products including Digital and Total Content Ratings and Digital and Total Ad Ratings. Digital and Total Content Ratings provide buyers and sellers of advertising with cross-platform audience measurement they need to efficiently plan advertising campaigns and make programming decisions. Digital and Total Ad Ratings provide cross-platform posting verification for buyers and sellers to understand whether a campaign met specific objectives.

Nielsen is looking for a candidate who can lead User Experience Strategy for these Digital products. This would involve conducting qualitative and quantitative research on the usability of the existing products and to ensure all new development is undertaken based on user centric design solutions. The User Experience Manager is expected to partner with Product and Client Service teams to gather insights related to Product usage and development of new initiatives. As a UX Manager you will also be required to interview clients to understand how they use the applications and create design solutions that provide the best possible experience to the users. You will be required to translate the solution to mockups and prototypes which you will then take through beta testing. Once confirmed, the requirements will need to be documented for the development teams to execute against. Nielsen’s development teams follow the Agile development framework, and will demo their work to you every two weeks for feedback and final sign off.

Objectives:

  • Create effective, comprehensive solutions for Nielsen’s Digital products using best practices, the latest Web trends and design tools to augment the user experience. Follow thoughtful interaction and information architecture and user-centric design methodologies
  • Work with business stakeholders and product managers to define user experience strategy and to design UIs around business requirements
  • Develop high level and/or detailed storyboards, mockups, and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas to engineers.
  • Rapidly iterate on design based on user feedback, tech constraints, market dynamics
  • Play an integral part in product development, from conceptualization, design, and web prototyping
  • Play a leading role in usability tests
  • Gain a deep understanding of user motivations, market opportunities through user research.
  • Build and maintain design guides and documentation for the User Interfaces. Also have the ability to work with design systems and collaborate with other design teams.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Build an overall UX strategy for the Digital products with specific callouts for the individual applications as needed.
  • Maintain prioritized UX backlog in partnership with cross-functional super scrum / scrum of scrums.
  • Build mockups and/or screen prototypes for the re-write and/or enhancement of the UI applications.
  • Author requirements to help provide technical teams with the context around what we’re building and why and ultimately get towards a definition around MVP vs. subsequent releases.
  • Partner closely with Technical Product Manager to prioritize and schedule UX enhancements.
  • Monitor progress of product development and help work through options with the development teams through the sprint cycles.
  • Review finalized design option/ product feature with Internal and external stakeholders globally to gain alignment and agreement.
  • Perform User Testing with internal and external stakeholders
  • Help communicate the importance and benefit of User Experience within Nielsen.

Required Qualifications

  • BS/MS degree in Human Computer Interaction, Interactive Design, or related area
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience, including proven web design, interactive design and/or information architecture
  • Strong, clean visual design sense, with a solid portfolio that demonstrates user-centric design and creativity (Please send URLs for an online portfolio)
  • Mastery of Sketch, Adobe Web CS Suite, and other prototyping tools
  • Fluency in latest Web standards and responsive design. Well-versed in fundamental visual and interactive design disciplines and principles.
  • Exposure to analytics, digital media and audience buying
  • Excellent organization, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • A 'can-do' attitude with a hands-on work ethic; comfort with multi-tasking and handling conflicting priorities.
  • Experience in information design and data visualization
  • Advantage - Previous experience in agile product development environment
  • Advantage - experience in ad tech, digital media and software
