  • Report on all aspects of transportation.
  • Develop and maintain sources within the transportation industry
  • Produce breaking news stories
  • Pitch future stories
  • Write digital copy and scripts
  • A minimum of eight (5) years’ experience producing in the news industry is required
  • An ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle developing news situations is essential.
  • The Producer must have extremely strong editorial skills; and knowledge and a strong interest in the transportation industry is a must.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. ABC NEWS WASHINGTON is hiring a Producer/Reporter (Transportation)
ABC News Washington is looking for a Producer/Reporter to join our Transportation team. The Producer/Reporter will cover the Transportation beat for all ABC News platforms, including broadcast, digital, and radio. This producer must be able to work in a fast paced, breaking news environment and be willing to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends. The Producer/Reporter will work closely with ABC's Transportation Unit correspondent. This position requires a mix of skills including strong reporting, television news script writing. Travel on short notice is expected and may be necessary for extended periods.
Candidates must have superior news judgment and ability to find primary sources to produce daily story assignments, breaking news events, and long-term futures reporting. Significant White House, congressional and/or political reporting experience is highly desirable. Three (3) years journalism experience in a news environment with extensive writing, reporting and producing is preferred.
