Finance & Business Management (F&BM) is seeking a business manager at VP level based in London to support the EMEA Clearing business, which consists of Futures & Options, OTC Clearing and OTC Intermediation. The Global Clearing Business is part of Global Equities within JP Morgan Corporate & Investment Bank.
The role reports to the Global Clearing business manager and will be part of a Global team of 8 (3 in London) providing support to the Global Clearing business.
The EMEA Clearing business head, Nick Forgan, is based in London and reports to the Nick Rustad, the Global Clearing Business head, also based in London.
The Global Clearing business continues to undergo significant change, driven by political events, internal organizational change, continued regulatory oversight, Technology and Operations developments. Combined with the mandatory changes being driven by new regulations, Global Clearing is a fast paced and interesting area to work in.
Key aspects of the role:
The EMEA Clearing business faces the additional challenge of the current European regulatory environment and delivering the post-Brexit framework. The business has been impacted by how it faces EEA clients when the UK loses passporting rights and in addition, has taken new memberships of EEA financial market infrastructure. The EMEA business has therefore now expanded to conduct business out of two main Legal entities i.e. J.P. Morgan Securities Ltd. and JP Morgan AG.
Additionally, there also significant increased regulatory focus on clearinghouses (e.g. through national competent authority supervision, recovery and resolution, JPM’s risk management framework etc). J.P. Morgan needs to respond and increase resources available in this area.
The incumbent will be part of the broader Global team of business managers supporting the business, which has four main areas of focus on behalf of the business heads. They will drive the specific objectives below in support of the EMEA Clearing business:
1. Driving business strategy and growth
- Provide analytics to support business decisions
- Assist the business in communicating the business strategy, performance and priorities (e.g. preparing materials for regulators, business updates, one off reviews, offsites)
2. Managing business risks and promoting a control environment
- Identify, assess and mitigate business risks that could impair the ability to do business
- Drive new business initiative assessments (e.g. new memberships driven by Brexit)
- Business continuity and resiliency planning
- Control agenda, in partnership with BCO
3. Optimising business performance and planning
- Optimize business performance by providing measurement and helping to drive key initiatives
- Manage inputs into performance reviews and business planning
4. The points above come together in establishing business priorities and then ensuring delivery.
In addition, the business manager is expected to embrace the wider Finance & Business Management agenda and promote J.P. Morgan values and culture
