Department and Team Overview
Bain’s Business Development (BD) team leads development of the Bain Alliance Ecosystem (BAE), a curated network of partnerships that helps Bain clients and teams get better results faster. The BD team defines the firm’s repeatable model for partnership development and delivery, infusing the model with best practices distilled from all business development activity at Bain. The BD team advises and supports partnership development and delivery by practice, solution and product teams. The BD team leads development and delivery of strategic partnerships with potential to transform Bain’s offering across multiple practices, solutions and/or products.
Bain’s Business Development team was founded in 2017 to support launch of the Bain Alliance Ecosystem. The BD team and Bain’s broader business development community are growing rapidly, as the firm scales its curated network of partnerships across all practices, solutions and products.
Position Summary
The Partnership Specialist develops knowledge assets and communication campaigns in support of Alliance Partnerships in Operations Excellence. The Partnership Specialist has primary responsibility for developing key sales & training materials, pipeline management processes, case study examples and joint marketing events. This role interacts with Alliance Partner teams on a regular basis, and requires significant interpersonal skills. The Partnership Specialist should expect to travel ~10% of the time.
Essential Functions
- Develop tools, methods, processes and materials to deploy Alliance Partners’ unique capabilities into Bain case work and client & product solutions
- Selling materials for internal Bain team and external client teams, including for inclusion in proposals
- Training materials on Alliance Partner capabilities and services, for use in case team kickoffs and with practice affiliates on ongoing basis
- Case studies/one pagers for all implementations – success stories, results achieved, and lessons learned
- Implementation work plans for specific Partner solutions
- Maintain “Tools & Services” Portal site and other internal knowledge sharing initiatives (e.g., GXC) for portfolio of domain partnerships
- Build and support pipeline management process, in collaboration with Bain practice teams and Alliance teams
- Manage logistics of internal and external Marketing activities with select Alliance Partners
- Manage multiple projects under tight deadlines across multiple time zones/geographies
- Press releases, webinars, joint publications, website mentions & links, etc
- Conferences, events and other live meetings
- Bain LTMs and WPM, as needed
- Onsite support, as needed (e.g., resolve any logistic conflicts as they arise, serve as onsite point of contact for logistics, etc.)
- Maintain ecosystem landscape POV for Procurement domain
- Develop foundational awareness of all established players and emerging newcomers
- Create and deploy process to refresh and update ecosystem landscape POV on ongoing basis
- Support development of repeatable model to identify ecosystem current-state and future opportunities
- Proactively contribute to BD program assets and repeatable model improvements
- Codify new insights to enhance repeatable partnership playbook: knowledge capture and synthesis
- Build broad knowledge of BD team content and gain emerging personal expertise for deploying and developing high-impact Alliance Partnership opportunities
- Other duties and special projects as required
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 3 years work experience in a professional services firm or in a role supporting partnership operations/management or sales operations
- Operational or consulting experience with one or more of the following: partnership development and management, business development, product development and management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to clearly document processes, policies, and best practices
- Able to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Self-starter with strong organization skills - ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to structure work in an ambiguous setting
- Able to evaluate tradeoffs and prioritize across requests
- Go getter attitude – drives assigned projects independently with complete ownership
- Team player – willing to pitch in as needed to meet the team goals. Not afraid to roll up their sleeves and do what is required
- Experience working in a matrix/global environment where collaboration is key in providing exceptional results
Preferred
- Experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, and/or Manufacturing
- Interpersonal and relationship management skills – demonstrated ability to work with Bain partner/manager resources, AND 3rd party partner executives
- Marketing, PR & event management – able to manage marketing event participation
