We are seeking to recruit a DevOps Application Support Engineer for the London based UKI Content Technology Support Team, within the Platform Group Operations (PGO) Business Unit of Thomson Reuters. The team are based in Bangalore, India and London with the team supporting applications hosted out of data centres in Europe and the US.
The Team support and manage several legal applications utilising a variety of technologies which reside on predominantly UNIX hosts. There is also work under way to move these applications to public cloud-based hosting solutions such as AWS. Although the team's primary focus is support there is also a significant volume of automation and implementation work carried out on existing systems following a Site Reliability Engineering theme. The team work closely with the legal editorial staff for content and various development teams around the world.
The team manage both pre-production and production environments and are responsible for supporting applications following the ITIL and DevOps/SRE methodologies. The team liaise with development teams across the globe and various shared infrastructure teams such as, unix, networks, security, management systems, storage and database teams.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is passionate about learning and implementing new technologies who currently has a strong understanding of UNIX system administration methodologies. A curious DevOps aligned technologist who is always looking to automate and do more with less. The successful candidates will possess good communication skills (both written and verbal) and excellent interpersonal skills. A background in a busy operational or service delivery environment would also be advantageous. The ability to follow standards and processes, such as change, incident and configuration management are a must for this role.
