Job Description
- Works with senior leadership, stakeholders, partners and delivery teams to track and maintain a program-level view of initiatives
- Develops delivery plans of complex projects and programs
- Ensures key roles and responsibilities are defined and holds functional managers accountable for their teams’ deliverables
- Identifies and manages program-level issues and risks and drives decision making and escalations
- Communicates program and roadmap status and schedule updates
- Manages and mentors a small team of Program Managers
- Plan, coordinate and direct all activities associated with creating and maintaining project plans, communication plans, risks/issues, etc. leveraging best practices defined by the Performance & Operations team
- Leverages experience with Agile and SCRUM methodologies to lead project teams on a daily basis to the successful delivery of software development projects
- Responsible for managing team dynamics, morale and motivation while building a culture where all members and points of view are respected
- Accountable for delivering quality solutions that provide desired business benefits and/or solve business problems - on-time & within budget
- Leads Project Teams through the identification and management of risks and the resolution of issues, escalating to management as appropriate
- Able to quickly solve complex problems in a challenging, dynamic environment with minimal direction
- Provides frequent and transparent communication to the business and technical senior management, project teams and stakeholders regarding project health, issues & risks
- Effectively communicates complex and/or difficult information to both technical and non-technical audiences, including Executives
- Ability to influence key decision-makers / stakeholders towards new business processes and technical solutions that best serve DTCI & the Walt Disney company
- Facilitator – must be able to:
- Facilitate meetings / workshops with large groups of people beyond the project team
- Facilitate the project team through the resolution of complex issues
- Ensure group participation
- Drive workshop/meeting to conclusion and/or actionable outcome
- Develops and delivers outcomes/results/notes in a manner appropriate to the level of the group
- A minimum of 6+ years of digital program management or related experience
- Demonstrated ability to define at scale a structure for efficient delivery of complex projects
- Demonstrated ability to drive initiatives forward to completion through collaboration and consensus across functional areas
- Must be capable of managing, tracking and troubleshooting multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment with cross-functional teams, vendors and partners
- Self-starter that can autonomously drive multiple work streams inter-departmentally
- Ability to develop program schedules, communicate deadlines, and enforce budgets and project milestones
- Proficient in use of project management and documentation tools
- High tolerance for ambiguity and working in a matrixed organization
- Able to analyze scheduling, budgetary and resourcing data to develop contingency and risk mitigation plans
- Proven software delivery experience
- Previous management experience highly desired
- CSM / CSP Certification preferred with thorough understanding of Scrum Agile Methodologies
- Experience with JIRA and Confluence
- Experience in the media industry is a plus
- Knowledge of back-end services in mobile/web architecture, integrating APIs/services serving front-end web and mobile clients highly preferred
Technology Operations is centered around three core functions Business Relationship Management, Global Program Management and Performance & Operations to support the DTCI technology organization. This position is part of the Global Program Management team which manages the execution of DTCI Technology programs, including scope, delivery schedules and budgets in addition to identifying dependencies, managing risks and quantifying business impact. This role collaborates with technical and platform leads to understand and rationalize strategic roadmaps while providing easy to understand, transparent reporting to leadership during delivery.
Within the Technology Operations – Global Program Management organization, the Senior Program Manager position will be responsible for managing key initiatives for Platform Engineering. This position requires proven experience with program and portfolio management (including prioritizing, scheduling, budgeting and resourcing multiple projects and cross-functional teams) as well as a strong familiarity with digital media.
This position will also involve daily hands on management of technology activities utilizing Agile and Scrum based software development practices; and may include working with other technical teams to effectively deliver business solutions. This role requires a wide range of leadership competencies, technical (PM) experience and communications skills. Responsible for managing projects using DTCI processes, tools and methodologies, which includes the development of the scope of work and the management of time, cost, risk, and communications.
Successful candidates must be highly proactive, detail-oriented, and able to autonomously work on concurrent complex implementations across matrixed teams both inside and outside the Direct-To-Consumer-International (DTCI) Technology department. They must be capable of clearly communicating schedules, risks, issues, and processes to a variety of business, creative, and technical audiences.
