You’ll need that appetite as an engineer on the Digital Technology team at Nielsen because we work in an extremely dynamic and fast-paced industry. We measure all web-based content and advertisements which reach consumers on phones, tablets, computers, and internet streaming devices every day. This amounts to tens of thousands of pieces of content and advertising campaigns with billions of ads served. The data sets that we deal with are stunning in their size and pose enormous challenges in collecting, handling, processing and reporting so much information. We provide our clients with an interactive reporting application and API, leveraging data analytics technologies and a flexible data extraction platform. We have an immediate opening for a talented UI Engineer to join our Applications team and help scale our rapidly growing systems and team.

What kind of engineer are we looking for?

  • 15+ years of experience as a Software Engineer designing, writing, and testing software
  • Experience coaching and mentoring other Software Engineers
  • Experience setting technical direction and leading a team to execute against it
  • 5+ years of working experience in UI development on any of the major JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, etc)
  • React experience heavily preferred as this is what our application is written in
  • HTML/CSS experience preferred
  • Full Stack experience in Java, Spring and SQL would be a big plus
  • Familiarity with modern DevOps software development practices like Git, Code reviews, agile methodology, experience with CI/CD pipelines is a big plus
  • Experience working in and a fundamental understanding of the Amazon Web Services
  • Ridiculous attention to detail and pride in the work you do
  • BS in Computer Science, Math, or equivalent

More About What You Will Be Doing!

We’re expecting you to be able to hit the ground running on your very first day. This means not only having the technical skills to code but knowing how to work as part of an engineering team. It should go without saying that you know how to use source control in your sleep, be able to set up and administer your own dev machine, have worked with IntelliJ or other comparable IDE’s, work with defect tracking systems, write proper code documentation, etc.
