Job summary

The Red Hat OpenShift Engineering team is looking for an Intern to join us in the summer of 2020 in our fabulous offices in San Francisco, CA. In this role, you will join our Installation team and contribute to the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, a premier Kubernetes distribution. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone wanting to join the Kubernetes community that revolutionizes computing. As an Intern, you should enjoy the thrill of a fast-paced environment and working with the most innovative cloud computing projects out there.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Work with the following technologies on a day-to-day basis; don't be discouraged if you aren't familiar with some of the tools and technology included in the list below, as we can help you learn as long as you have the flexibility to apply your knowledge and experience to these new tools:
    • Kubernetes
    • Linux container (runc)
    • Cloud providers like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, etc.
    • Prometheus
    • Linux and UNIX operating systems
  • Develop code with tools like Go, Bash scripts, and other Red Hat OpenShift-supported languages, including Python and Ruby
  • Communicate with community members through mailing lists, slack, and video conferencing
  • Participate in upstream projects

Required skills

  • Ability to work full-time hours during the summer of 2020 in the location listed (San Francisco, CA)
  • Practical experience with web or system programming, or equivalent university coursework
  • Knowledge of the UNIX and Linux operating systems of any distribution
  • Ability to communicate at an intermediate level in English, as you will become part of a global team
  • Previous code contributions to open source projects or code samples on GitHub are a plus
