The Perception team at Lyft Level 5 is looking to build accurate and robust analytical reports for evaluating autonomous vehicle (AV) performance. The ideal candidate will not only write complex queries to mine patterns in the petabytes of data that our AVs collect, but also help us design scalable database schemas for future use cases. This role will work in a highly collaborative manner with other Perception and Machine Learning engineers. The candidate has the opportunity to drive business outcomes at the highest level.

Responsibilities:

• Design efficient database schemas for cloud data warehouses
• Analyze Petabytes of data from Lyft’s autonomous vehicles, extract patterns, and build reports to accelerate decision making
• Deep dive on past failure modes and predictive analysis on new features
• Evangelize analytical decision making within the Level5 organization

Experience:

• Bachelor’s or MS degree in one of the following fields: computer science, mathematics, statistics (or other relevant fields)
• 2+ years of industry experience
• Expert knowledge of writing efficient queries in one of the following: SQL, Hive, or Presto
• Experience with designing efficient database schemas
• Domain experience in math and statistical methods such as hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, and various probability distributions
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to operate cross-functionally
• (Nice to have) Experience with a business intelligence (BI) tool such as Tableau or Mode
• (Nice to have) Experience with ETL technologies such as Spark or Hive
• (Nice to have) Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python or C++
• (Nice to have) Experience working with Google BigQuery or other Cloud data warehouses
