Job Description

The Tax Product Management role will focus on the management and control of the Tax Administration/Custody Tax product component of the Securities Services business. You will partner with the broader Product Management Team, Business leads, Product Control function and Client teams to oversee and manage the tax administration and Custody business end to end.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivery of end to end wide-ranging solutions which take into account the full securities services product suite to satisfy client’s tax outcomes
  • Leadership and management of the tax product through an unprecedented period of change that will involve client management, oversight over 2 operating models simultaneously and complex stakeholder management.
  • Provision of thought leadership to shift market practice to the greater benefit of the client and the broader industry
  • Drive the client messaging and marketing approach of the value of the Tax product across Securities Services. Ensure that internal teams are able to deliver this message seamlessly.
  • Own the alignment of technology, operating model and service with the Product Definition
  • Actively seek to reduce cost, maximise product efficiency and simplify billing
  • Make effective Product Approvals supported through quick and well informed decisions based upon a definitive product position
  • Set and own the strategic development plan for the Securities Services Tax offering
  • Maintain Tax product definition and understand what is the product, how is it delivered, who are the clients and how is revenue realized. Consideration to be given to capabilities across asset classes, market coverage, time zones, account structures, documentation requirements and legal framework
  • Promote and ensure globally consistency to all Tax product aspects: legal & risk framework, service model, reporting and required account structures
  • Perform ongoing competitive analysis and benchmarking to influence strategy
  • Collaboration with various stakeholders to assess the impact of Market & Regulatory developments on the Securities Services Tax product offering
  • Analyze product impacts, opportunities & threats of external and internal changes from a tax perspective
  • Produce and obtain approval for business cases and New Business Initiative Approval (NBIA) process
  • BAU support for Securities Services Tax issues and client requests
  • Develop and define the Securities Services Tax product delivery framework and establish the SLAs and metrics to measure and manage key business partners and suppliers
  • Implement supplier cost management i.e. transparency and control over direct and indirect expenses
  • Governance and quality assurance of Securities Services Tax solutions /operating models developed against a global standard and product book
  • Help set Securities Services Tax priority across each stakeholders and ensure this ties with the product strategy
  • Reduce the utilization of external consultants through upskilled internal capabilities

To be successful, you will need:

  • Existing experience and the ability to provide complex tax-related enquiries
  • Ability to assess client impact from custody and fund administration perspectives
  • Proven ability to communicate key changes and impact to stakeholders, including creating plan of action for clients
  • Proven execution capabilities in the delivery of key projects and initiatives, both as an SME and in ownership of projects to completion
  • Understanding of Global Tax Principles and how these impact our business and our clients
  • Detailed understanding and experience of either implementing and / or designing tax and accounting platforms
  • Ability to manage self and others, drive Product outcomes and have the ability to identify ways to improve productivity
  • Proven track record for demonstrating thought leadership, ability to influence clients, taking of advantage of industry change and shaping the role of the custodian in the tax space
  • Ability to translate complex tax requirements into coherent product vision
  • Foresight to identify future challenges to the operating environment, scale of the product offering and opportunities to get ahead of the market
  • Absolute clarity in thought process and decision making to ensure complete confidence in decisions and Product strategy both internally and externally to J.P. Morgan
  • Understanding of contemporaneous tax changes
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically with respect to product strategy and development agenda
  • Strong presentation skills and previous client facing experience
  • Ability to work independently and also effectively in a matrix organization
  • Experience in managing and influencing key business partners for the delivery of the services
  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to establish and communicate the Securities Services Tax strategy.
  • Solid knowledge of tax changes impacting the financial industry
