Job Description

We are hiring for an experienced Business Analyst to join the fast growing European Development team. Vanguard is currently rapidly expanding its European technology presence, and this role will work on providing analysis and requirements documentation to the IT delivery teams with potential supplementary responsibilities in the Project Management space. Business Analysts with fantastic communication skills, strong analytical and organizational skills can expect to have a visible role implementing and managing changes to complex processes that are at the center of Vanguard’s technology strategy. Candidates should be interested in a fast paced group that builds and enhances global applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be part of a business facing development team to deliver new solutions to the business
  • Leads requirements gathering sessions for projects, maps work flows of internal clients and ensures that the project addresses business needs
  • Undertakes systems analysis of application software, databases and integration between systems to understand business functionality and alignment with business processes
  • Participates in client meetings throughout the project lifecycle to identify issues and respond/resolve functionality problems in a timely manner
  • Provides support for testing phases throughout the project lifecycle
  • Assists in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation
  • Performs risk management to minimise project risks
  • Tracks project performance to ensure successful completion of short and long-term goals
  • Build and maintains strong internal relationships with key stakeholders and peers to enable delivery of beneficial outcomes for Vanguard
  • Self-organises, with the ability to effectively manage time across multiple projects and with competing business demands and priorities
  • Focuses on delivering value to the business with relentless efforts to improve process
  • Champions a quality ethos within the constraints of the business priorities and pressures.

Key Requirements:

  • Understanding of workflow based logic with the ability to both understand a business process from a workflow diagram, and to conceptualise it as an automated solution
  • Excellent understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills
  • Robust critical thinking and evaluation skills
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work well with business managers, traders and developers
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly and excellent problem solving skills
  • Assists in design, implementation, and architecture design of reporting solutions
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous quality improvement of technical standards, methodologies, and technologies
  • Thoroughly understands and complies with IT policies and procedures, especially those for quality and productivity standards that enable the team to meet established client service levels.
  • Thoroughly understands and complies with Information Security policies and procedures. Verifies team's deliverables meet Information Security requirements.

Required Skills:

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and persuade through personal credibility, integrity and professionalism.
  • Strong Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint and Excel skills
  • Knowledge of the following practices and concepts:
    • Software capabilities and limitations
    • Benefits and risks of automating and changing processes
    • Quality assurance methodology and inspections
    • Prototyping and use case scenarios
  • Experience using JIRA to manage and refine stories and backlogs
  • Experience running SQL queries
  • Interest in Big Data technologies, including Hive/Hadoop, Parquet and Presto as well as Cloud technologies such as AWS.
  • An understanding of Asset Management, although financial backgrounds will be considered
  • Experience in an Agile environment
