Job Description

Position Title: CMF Designer
Location: Kalamazoo, MI
Reports to: Manager or Senior Manager, CMF
Summary: This person will be instrumental in developing materials and themes for implementation on the Color, Material and Finishes selected for product development. This person should have a strong desire to work and learn in a fast-paced team environment, across multiple product categories and design disciplines. This position will focus on supporting the team as well as leading key initiatives that support the design objectives across our ID and Graphic teams. The ability to use our resources to accurately forecast color and trend directions for our major brands will be important to the position. How best to apply the CMF as well as the ability to work cross functionally will make Newell a world class organization where Color and Trend are vital to the success of our products.
Responsibilities:• Forecasting global macro trend themes and elements for our major brands and report out.
• Strong color acuity and application across different sub-straights
• Understanding, articulating and developing against a color strategy
• Synthesizes elements from fashion, product, and automotive trends that apply to our categories.
• Supports and catalogs light box and Lab readings for color standards library
• Develops manufacturing spec sheets for call-out and details on CMF applications
• Works to source new materials for future development
• Present out trend reports to internal audiences and work with our trend partners on content
• Cross functional point of contact on CMF projects
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in either CMF, Industrial, Graphic, Textile, Fashion or a related design field required
• Experience: 3-5 years in product development in a corporate or consultancy environment
• Design Expertise: Understanding and presenting the importance CMF can play in development
• Visual Communication: demonstrates effective communication strategies within design for presentation techniques, formats and mediums including digital, traditional and video.
• Digital Design 2D/3D: Leading edge digital tools for CMF application/presentation, Keyshot, Photoshop, illustrator and video production applications
• Color Application: Understands color development and how to achieve desired results with both domestic and international vendors
• Presentation skills: Ability to present and influence the CMF direction of a project with Design and Marketing
• Portfolio: Strong global CMF conceptualization and implementation across consumer products showcasing abilities for position
