Wealth and Investment Management (WIM) businesses build enduring client relationships through sound, thoughtful and objective advice. We help our clients by developing individualized plans for everything from retirement goals to business succession planning, to family legacy intentions. Services include comprehensive planning and advice, investment management, brokerage, private banking, estate planning strategies, trust, and both individual and institutional retirement.

Wells Fargo Advisors' Independent Brokerage and Platform Services User-Centered Design (UCD) and Innovation Team is a shared service responsible for the design of financial advisor and internal digital user experiences, applications and platforms, in addition to firm-wide accessibility and user research needs.

The CX Interaction Designer 2, UX Designer will report to the Field/Team Member Design Manager within the UCD team and design and prototype for Field (e.g. Financial Advisors) and Team Member (e.g. Operations and Compliance teams) user experiences and platforms.

The right candidate will have demonstrated design and prototyping experience working with mobile, tablet, web and software-based business applications and will possess the ability to deliver creative, problem-solving solutions to complex design problems within an established set of styles and standards. The candidate must also have strong organizational, communication and prioritization skills and be capable of conducting their work autonomously, representing the design and UCD team to the broader teams at large.

The UX Designer will successfully carry out the following responsibilities:

  • Create engaging and effective design solutions for software interfaces on web, desktop, mobile, and tablet, achieving business goals and meeting product and user requirements
  • Must be able to comfortably utilize the Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) on a PC
  • Prototype creation (utilizing tools such as Invision, InvisionStudio, Axure, HTML prototypes, etc.)
  • Ability to create compelling designs while working within and contributing to the established styles and standards
  • Closely collaborate with Technology, Business and Product teams to solve for complex issues like interaction models and data visualization
  • Be comfortable with frequent iteration to designs as part of an Agile process, based on feedback from users, technology and business partners
  • Represents design and the UCD team as a lead - assessing timelines, expectations and translating business and other requirements into successful design solutions
  • Works closely with other designers to collaborate and deliver design work. Mentors other designers on team

The UX Designer role is located in St. Louis, MO. Remote work locations are not available for this position.


Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in the following: communications, human factors, information sciences, graphic, and visual arts


Other Desired Qualifications
  • In-depth experience with design
  • Design experience which encompasses problem-solving design for displaying complex data to users (e.g., financial information, medical information, etc.)
  • Ability to create interactive prototypes to communicate how a design is intended to function
  • Experience leveraging structural design artifacts like Information Architecture to build a strong design foundation
  • Strong design communication, presentation and collaboration skills
  • Strong visual design or interaction design portfolio of recent web, mobile, tablet, and software design projects
  • Collaborative attitude – We are a very low-ego group that work to create artifacts together, not as individuals
  • Ability to work effectively with partners located remotely via email and phone
  • A basic understanding of front-end development (HTML & CSS), enabling a cleaner collaboration with our IT development partners
  • Responsive design experience
  • Experience working and/or managing design efforts in an Agile environment
  • Experience with ‘Design Thinking’ techniques (e.g., LUMA, IDEO)
  • Experience with user research - incorporating user insights into design decisions
  • Knowledge and understanding of the investment industry
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience working in large, corporate work environments

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time


Salary Information

The salary range displayed below is based on a Full-time 40 hour a week schedule.
MO-Saint Louis: Min: $71,000 Mid: $100,000
