Summary of role

Pearson Infrastructure and Operations team is looking for an experienced Busines Manager to provide financial planning, reporting and analysis support for the team. The position helps drive the ongoing tracking of budget and expenses in multiple cost centers, improvement of reporting processes and business metrics. Other responsibilities include involvement and presenting at monthly management meetings, and providing strong support of internal customers by answering questions and providing financial guidance.

Accountable for:

• Supporting the VP of I&O across his function to deliver on the tower’s goals and objectives
• Driving central initiatives as needed across the group
• Ensuring there are robust internal and inter-Finance processes around financial management for the group, particularly in relation to headcount and cross charging of services
• Monitoring and managing travel & expenses within expected limits across the teams
• Collaborating with central business management functions to deliver on 3rd party Op Plan targets and reductions and aligning I&O processes to central policy
• Working across I&O to design and deliver metrics and KPIs that genuinely demonstrate the progress being made and highlight gaps for action
• Providing single pane of glass reporting to the VP I&O and his leadership team on the performance of the group across operational, financial, capability and people dimensions
• Providing programme performance and financial oversight and benefits tracking
• Leading on content creation and input for external operational reviews, business cases and actions assigned to the VP I&O, ensuring the messaging is aligned and consistent across the group

Skills and capabilities:

• Highly numerate with a good understanding of financial management principles and an appreciation of how capex and opex differ
• Collaborative, with good facilitation skills and the ability to drive and lead where needed
• Action orientated based on data-driven decision making
• Able to create executive-level presentations and communications, and understand how to position context and the balance of concept versus detail
• Strong understanding of corporate business principles and dynamics
• Excellent internal networking skills
• Brave in raising gaps and issues to the VP I&O that need his attention and active in seeking out areas that need additional attention and support

Qualifications

Education and Experience :

• Undergraduate degree in MIS, Business, Accounting, Finance, or Economics
• 6 years in delivering exceptional financial analytics, communication, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving
