Description
Position Summary and Overview: The Systems Test Lead is responsible for identifying and implementing Verification and Validation (V&V) strategies and activities for Aperio scanner products and their external interfaces. The scanner is an automated high precision digital scanner for capturing high magnification/resolution images from pathological samples. The testing activity involves V&V of the embedded software, software applications for the device as well as hardware in the loop testing of the device. This role will work with the Test Manager, R&D Project Managers, other Test Leads and Systems Engineers within Leica to define hardware/software requirements with an emphasis on verifiability/testability and verify/validate software and systems in line with the required user needs and System, Quality and Regulatory requirements. Furthermore, he/she will work with design engineers to improve verifiability/testability of the system design. This role will lead small offshore V&V Teams in India to satisfy delivery objectives and priorities associated with on-going product maintenance and new product development. They will drive continuous improvement through application of Danaher internal tools and guidelines. Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead LBS V&V teams for Aperio scanner products
  • Act as primary liaison between US based and offshore teams, ensuring clear communication and timely follow through on any deliverables.
  • Review and analysis of product requirements. Decomposing system requirements into a comprehensive test plan clearly traceable to those system requirements. This would include a combination of hardware and software tests.
  • Approve, Author and Review of Test Cases and Procedures. Review the tests developed by the test engineers to ensure the tests are repeatable, comprehensive, correct, and have clear and objective pass/fail criteria.
  • Author Test Strategies, Plans and Test Reports for medium to large projects
  • Manage the set up and maintenance of various test environments to ensure proper coverage throughout V&V phases. Responsible to ensure the test environment is sufficient to execute the tests and meets the environmental requirements specified in the tests
  • Ensure QSM processes are adhered to throughout the product development cycle.
  • Work with team to ensure issues found in test are logged and escalated appropriately.
  • Provide clear summary of test results and issues to Management.
  • Mentor test teams in their responsibilities.

Job Requirements
Qualifications
Required
  • A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in Systems Software/Hardware Testing including the application of test processes throughout the SDLC.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent is required.
  • Prior experience in leading a test team with demonstrated ability to manage team through influence and leadership skills.
  • Experience in testing automated electro-mechanical instruments
Preferred
  • Work related experience of 2+ years in the management of staff numbering in excess of 3 persons
  • Experience in testing optical instruments is a plus
  • Experience in working with international teams on projects.
  • Experience in Agile development processes and methodologies.
  • Experience with ALM/test case management software such as Quality Center or SpiraTeam.
  • Experience with test bed management software and deployment utilities such as VMWARE, Acronis, or Ghost
  • Experience in use of test automation tools e.g. Selenium, Test Complete.
  • Experience with Oscilloscope, logic analyzer or other similar measurement tools
  • ISTQB foundation certification or equivalent is a plus
  • Experience in the Medical Device/IVD or other regulated environments with exposure to design control regulations is highly preferred
  • Experience in white or grey box testing is a plus
  • Experience in motion control, camera interface and communication protocols is a plus
  • Experience in programming languages, specially C++
