DevOps Engineer

What We’re Looking For

Are you an experienced DevOps engineer with knowledge of AWS and Kubernetes? If so, let's talk immediately! Hotels.com is currently in the process of migrating to AWS and this is where you'll come into play.

If you're keen to tackle new challenges, good with people and understand the difference between containers and virtual machines, you'll fit right in.

What You’ll Do

Work on everything from implementing AWS best practices across all our accounts, to orchestrating container-based service architecture with Kubernetes.

You’ll be working in the “Runtime Platform” team but will interact with various teams as we onboard more applications onto the cloud.

We Trust You To

  • Support a large number of Kubernetes clusters in line with platform requirements
  • Help onboard and maintain applications within our environments fixing any issues along the way
  • Manage and monitor systems to ensure that issues are quickly identified and resolved
  • Collaborate with various platform teams to plan and execute system changes e.g security and audit controls
  • Automate manual activities

Essential Competencies

  • You have a good working experience of managing Kubernetes clusters at scale
  • You are comfortable with Go, Bash or Python
  • You have experience with container orchestration, e.g. Kubernetes
  • You are a capable coder in either Python or Go.
  • You live and breathe automation
  • You understand and how to apply them to a Cloud-based environment.
  • You have working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform & CloudFormation)
  • You possess a deep understanding of DevOps and Agile methodologies and concepts.
  • Ability to work quickly and effectively whilst maintaining quality
  • You have a desire to evaluate and learn new technologies to tackle real user problems effectively
  • You have good interpersonal skills and willingness to work across teams

Desirable Competencies

  • Experience with managing Kubernetes at scale
  • Experience managing infrastructure with multi-tiered and multi-region web architecture
  • Experience with DNS, TCP/IP and networking concepts
