The Director, Engineering will lead all engineering teams who manage connectivity to Global Distribution System (GDS). This includes the complete TMC Services product portfolio as well as the GDS connectivity layer for SAP Concur’s Online Booking Tool. You will report to a Senior Director, Engineering for Concur Travel. You will closely work with Technical Product Management to determine priorities and will be responsible and accountable for designing and developing high quality, highly scalable and secure cloud software and operate it in multiple production datacenters.

Travel is a key part of SAP Concur’s integrated Travel & Expense value proposition and the business travel industry is evolving at an ever-quicker pace as travel managers strive for reduced costs and elevated, consumer grade end user experiences while suppliers differentiate themselves with new products and services in more markets. At the same time the technology landscape is evolving rapidly. We are fully moving into AWS, we are re-architecting our existing application while also re-building the Online Booking Tool from ground up.

It is a demanding and exciting role, requiring depth of understanding of technology, communication and collaboration with all parts of SAP Concur’s organization, leading change across your teams and partner teams, and ultimate accountability of delivering working software.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

• Recruit, retain and grow the development team.
• Own your area end to end. From planning, over design to development, testing and operation in production.
• Evolve our platform in the light of an ever-changing business and technology landscape
• Work with Technical Product Management to determine priorities
• Be responsible and accountable for delivery, uptime, quality and security of your product area
  

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• University degree, ideally with a focus on Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology
• Travel industry experience strongly preferred
• 10+ years of software engineering experience (software development and running software in production systems)
• Demonstrable experience with AWS or GCP
• Proven experience as a people manager, leading software development teams in multiple locations
• Track record of successfully delivering product features within aggressive timelines
• Curiosity and ability to recommend the solution to a problem using different products and technologies
• Fluency in English
