We are looking for a Software Project Lead Engineer to support the Electric Power Systems Controls embedded products.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Project management and technical administration of software development and verification teams for developing and certifying cutting-edge electronic systems software for such aircraft platforms and manufacturers
  • Work closely with the customers, certification authorities, Program Managers, Chief Engineers, suppliers and functional managers in a team environment, sometimes with remote team members
  • Engage in full life-cycle development (plan, design, verify, certify) of embedded software for control of electric power systems, and certifying to aerospace standards (DO-178 is typical, Level A to C)Qualifications:
    Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field and 7 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience in development of complete project plans, including schedule, budget and resource planning; evaluation of technical decisions against schedule and budgetary constraints.
  • Experience in embedded software development/verification Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Project Management in the Aerospace Industry
  • Experience using DO-178 or similar industry standards
  • Experience in a team leadership role
  • Experience and familiarity with the full aerospace product software development and certification (DO-178B/C) lifecycle including requirements analysis, design, development, integration, verification and certification
  • PMP Certification
  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)
  • Familiar with working in lab environments using oscilloscopes, in circuit emulators / target system debuggers and computer assisted test stands
  • Understanding of quality software development processes is required
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Experience with mentoring and guiding junior software engineers in a working environment within defined development and certification plans
  • Generator/Power controls experience is a plus
  • General experience with hardware designEducation:
  • Candidates for this role should possess a Bachelor’s degree Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field and 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced degree and 3 years of prior relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required. Nothing matters more to Collins Aerospace than our strong ethical and safety commitments. As such, all U.S. positions require a background check, which may include a drug screen. Note:
  • A Background check and a drug screen are required for every external new hire in the U.S.
  • A re-hire will be drug screened if it has been 12 months since they were last employed by UTC.
